I don’t think it’s even as simple in the states. This whole business of monolithic ‘generations’ with homogeneous economic prospects and political beliefs needs to be taken with a massive pinch of salt. It’s just another specious example of divisive tribalism that seems to infect so much of public discourse.
Yeh, apart from the gluing around the front screen layers (that lenticular stuff is interesting), the inards are full of screws and connectors - not much glue thankfully, just very fiddly
I dislike the headline. The truth, surely is that the internet made a substantial contribution to the pressure on the high street and growing inequality weakened even further
It’s one of those names, which I suspect seemed like a good idea in the pub at the time and which they should have jettisoned as soon as they sobered up.
They have a certain amount of money that they have to spent on operational work. The police and crime commissioners/mayor depending on region absolutely look at arrests v conviction rates and will give the Chief Constable a hard time if they are arresting people without hope of conviction, telling them instead to focus on priorities. It wouldn't surprise me at all if we don't see the criteria for arrest to be tweaked a bit.
That’s really not how it works. If there’s little prospect of prosecution they simply aren’t going to bother with the time expense and resources to arrest.
I disagree. I doubt you or I or anyone else will remember their names. If the judge hadn't named them, however, the British (social and perhaps tabloid) media would have become obsessed with discovering their identities.
It's the CPS that may think twice about the prospect of prosecution, and the police are going to be pretty loathe to arrest if prosecutions are unsuccessful,
It doesn’t have to be apolitical- it’s how about the discussion is conducted and not immediately thinking a person who disagrees with you is evil incarnate. Very tough to moderate though, and requires participants to really be behind the ethos, I guess
Probably works the other way around - FBI detects the problem at various IP addresses, patches them, then contacts the iISP and asks them to contact the customer who had x.y.z IP address
I suspect it might have been problematic to tip off the malware operators that the network was about to be shut down. Apparently customers are going to be informed via their ISPs now. I guess some if them may decide to junk the routers.
