Have you seen the reactions I got for the honest and good natured try to address these issues I have encountered so many times that I thought it might be beneficial to talk about this?
I have been met with mostly aggressive if not downright absurd behavior. Obviously, people do not know or care for the most part about this topic and that answer would have been enough.
But getting personal and implying all sorts of intentions on my side is not going to fly with me so I did get frustrated at times.
Think about this: a person gets frustrated about someone insulting them repeatedly and you call them unprofessional for it. This has been a misunderstanding, followed by a beatdown.
If my post is childish, don’t ask questions. It’s about addressing controversies when they pop up. I do this stuff professionally so maybe try to be constructive or get out.
I‘m trying to do my part and get people on sane tracks for a couple years now. What I do here is trying to organize the fight against google. Criticism pops up against mozilla left and right and as someone who’s been in sales and marketing for 18 years, I know that you better upend stuff like this to have a clear path. Otherwise you invite skirmishes that keep you from progressing.
I have no idea what your situation even remotely is but if you‘re a poc like you claim, then you have far worse problems than women my friend. Try to get your priorities in order.
Ok, opinion noted. I agree that mozilla is not controversial in the eye of the public but I think that is why a q&a is a good idea. Other companies, products, etc also host q&as which are not considered controversial.
Moreover, my goal is to arm the average superuser (or even average user who feels so inclined) with useful answers to the most prevalent criticism. This is done best by keeping it short and simple. Some convoluted thread will not help there.
Then go ahead and be there first. A formal q&a why these allegations exist, how true or untrue they are and why they are not important to firefox as a browser. It will also help people defend against this in public and will actually bring more people to firefox. What do you think scientology does? You think they don’t have a q&a for cruise stalking his ex wives and people suddenly dying when leaving the fold?
Ok, so do you know how the corpos react to actual concerns which they can’t bury under money? They adress them in writing and forever refer to it.
I don’t know why it is so hard for everyone to get that stuff doesn’t go away if you ignore it. It’s so easy to write „Mozilla ceo has done some questionable things but we as a community think that the brwoser is important regardless…“
I read it and I have an idea what they’re implying. I just prefer they write it out themselves so that I can have an honest discussion instead of this childish game.
I think google being the default search engine of firefox is very much important to firefox imo but yes, the rest is mozilla, I agree.
Still, I‘d like to know if there should be some kind of q&a somewhere so that these things dont pop up randomly and spark anxiety/drama when they do.
I agree that noobs are definitely important but it felt like you were dismissing the questions of advanced users. Without us, you will never get firefox up there because we literally do the support for it (as in helpdesk).
Secondly, what else would I be on about? Everything can be adequately worked through if discussed honestly and openly. Keeping something under the rug is idiotic. It’s the reason a lot of stuff is wrong in the world.
I see, we‘re probably just addressing this thing from different viewpoints but with similar goals.
