  • I‘m not sure I follow. Did I spin facts?

  • Thanks for pointing that out. I‘m sort of between the two. Doing IT more or less professionally for 20+ yrs but I can’t tell you the definitive workings of the fediverse either. I understand the principles and I like them.

    Have a good one. :)

  • Hi, I agree that there needs to be discussion.

But let’s be honest here. If meta made a lemmy/mastodon instance we would probably defederate them as well since every bit of data is for their financial gain and nothing else.

I don’t see how the worlds master manipulator and anti trust poster child is even remotely worth discussing about. We have established time and time again that „meta bad“. Why would we now not just accept the fact?

  • Depends. I usually start out getting permission. But as time progresses, these permissions start to become very sparse. Something I repaired in the past (and did so correctly), I wouldn’t get permission later. Reasons were that people felt like too much was changing.

  • Tell me about it. Grew up poor, kicked out of school due to undiagnosed neurological stuff.

I did manage to build a company out of thin air (and working 16 hrs a day). Then covid happened. I‘m rather gonna starve than go back an suck corpo cock.

  • I‘m always the guy on the right. As a gifted, autisic person, I have a special view on things. I usually get the boot after 18 months because the boss or some other person in power doesn’t like me optimizing stuff. „We are not used to change our ways.“ was one sentence I often heard when being let go.

  • Oof. I feel you. I like cars and I hate when this happens.

I got another good example: I‘m in the market for a garden plot (I live in a city with no perspective on getting my own house soon).

There are waiting lists that are years if not decades long. All while gardens get sold/rented out behind the curtain and worst of all: abandoned ones rotting away or being used as scrap yards by companies (which should be illegal).

It just makes me so sad. We have so much stuff we could solve if you could just go to your local government rep and tell them to change this, state your reasons and watch it change.

  • Most people are not even able to accumulate any capital while paying bills. If you‘re not in the fortunate position of a collage education or similar, you‘re pretty fucked.

  • I might get sick. This is so disgusting I can’t even. Thanks for pointing that out. As an entrepreneur, I always try to make it worth everyones time. Seeing stuff like this just makes me sad.

  • I‘m autistic and I usually take „touch grass“ at face value and feel like the person wants me to feel better. I know that’s most likely not the case but it’s how my brain works.

    Edit: spelling

  • I recently bought 3 products for 50 bucks and had to pay 10 bucks extra for shipping since 3 different vendors. We really need a federated amazon.

  • *lemmings

    FTFY

  • Isn’t this like the second time the ceo said something like that? I think he probably needs to be unseated from his position.

  • Can absolutely relate. Just seeing nsfw if you‘re not anticipating it is very weird.

  • That’s pretty genious. One way to work with trauma is moving the eyes from side to side along to a moving light. It’s basically to force the brain to work through something that used to stall it. So tetris, since it is highly reactive and logical, also needs spatial thinking, should very much force the brain to work instead of stalling.

  • Iirc, ptsd is something only certain characters get. We should probably focus on finding people who really have no problem watching rough content. I have ptsd so I probably am not the right person for the job.

  • It’s pretty awesome but I think I still need to improve a lot of stuff.

Sadly, deduplucation doesn’t help me for my docker configs as there are not many files. Deduplication would help for my bulk storage backup but I think iDrive already has something like this in their scheduling program.

  • I posted this exact idea a week ago. Good that it finally gets discussed. :)

  • This is so tragic but actually makes sense. happens all around the world as well.
