I'm convinced that the only way he got it greenlit was by selling it as "family guy in space" even though that's not what he wanted to do. So he hammed that up for the first couple of episodes to make the suits happy before phasing it out and making the show he actually wanted.
This same person also made Captain lazerhawk: a blood dragon remix, which was absolutely one of the most unhinged things I have ever seen. An unholy mashup of random Ubisoft characters and references from over the decades, thrown into this dystopic sci-fi plot without any regard for sanity.
I saw someone with the classic John f Kennedy quote "those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable" on a sign that was taped to a classic wooden bat. Probably my favor sign I've seen yet.
Towards the end of the article it's also mentioned a list of politicians was found in the shooters car. The names of both politicians he shot were among the names on the list.
I'm struggling to see how. At the time the game first came out (when I played it) it was a flat subscription fee to pay, like most MMOs back then. It didn't have any of the pay to win, micro transactiony gambling bullshit that was described by the person I replied to. It was just the game and the game was fun.
It sounds like it really went full enshitification with lootbox type stuff sometime after I quit so it was a very different experience for each of us.
That's really unfortunate to hear. I played and enjoyed the game back when it first came out, before they added all the micro transaction stuff. I've thought about revisiting it a few times but never have.
