  • Mobile games don't qualify as games. They're riddled with micro transactions and ads, and I would know... I'm complicit in this, as I'm translating their games, of which the cash shops are a noticeable chunk.

May unity milk them till the udder produces nothing but pus.

  • Dogs don't do that "for fun", there must be more behind this story.

  • I'm just a fan. Second time I got asked that question, first time was in the Japanese Metal community 😃

Maybe I should have made my name something different, but then again, I get to meet people with an awesome taste \m/

  • Many great reasons to not allow them to build it, zero to do it.

  • I'd never compare Biden and Trump. One is a career politician, the other a clumsy mob boss.

  • Yeah, it would revive traditional roles, but suddenly nobody would be able to support a family anymore (not those first few years, at least), because life's too expensive for just one breadwinner.

  • Suddenly games wouldn't see a localised version anymore. To play anything that requires language comprehension, you'd have to study the source language.

This thankfully doesn't impact me personally, but people would lose out on some cool content. Not everyone finds it fun to spend years to acquire a language to the degree some games require.

Maybe arcade would make a comeback.

  • Incredibly busy, finally lunch break. At least time passes quickly when you have enough to do.

  • I don't like this guy, but he's right. Japan still has ex-PM Taro Aso in a ministerial position, and the guy has been a mummy for decades and can barely walk in a straight line.

  • Only a few years older than me. Absolutely not yet old enough to be a boomer.

  • Still at work, halfway through now. It's been slow so far, which I don't mind at all.

  • Absolutely. The problem arises when the source material then gets translated from English, which already suffers from losing nuances.

It's also often debatable if something counts as liberty or is really a lazy shortcut, when it's clear that something could have been done in better ways.

  • I don't think it's possible to get close to the original other than learning the original source language. I'd think this goes for English books/movies translated to Japanese, too.

  • I'm sorry, I don't have any recommendations. Maybe there are useful communities for this on Lemmy?
