  • You're close to getting it but you're not quite there. The patriarchy oppressed men AND women. It oppressed white people AND minorities.

Feminists, LGBTQ+, and black rights activists have each fought against the hierarchal structure for an end to their oppression and to enshrine their own rights. These people fight for equality, but they obviously do it when they're the ones harmed by inequality. They also support eachother in their respective fights as allies.

None of these groups will fight on behalf of other groups for many reasons, not the least of which is that they DON'T KNOW what it's like to be in a group they don't belong to. The most they can do is support eachother's fights.

Unfortunately many of the advantages that the patriarchy offered men was through oppressing others. For example if you were a "manly" man you could attract a "feminine" woman to do chores and raise kids for you. Nowadays women have better deals available. So men are at a unique crossroads, they can work on their own fights: the freedom to express human emotions, the freedom to participate in "feminine" pursuits like being in the lives of your kids, taking paternity leave, fighting for an education system that doesn't leave boys in the dust, among other things. OR they can try to go back to the hierarchal ways of life, adopting the "manly alpha" persona and hoping to find a "feminine" wife to take care of the house and kids. The latter FEELS easier, but success is difficult.

Nobody else got that choice because no one else thought that taking apart the hierarchy was as painful for them as much as it is to men. It lays bare all of our limitations and removes all the privileges. But if we understand that the hierarchy is what CREATED those limitations and gave the privileges at the cost of operating others, then we know the right thing is to start fighting our fights and stop being left behind.

It's not feminism's fault we're left behind. Why would women fight men's fights against the hierarchy/patriarchy FOR us, when women don't even live the problems we live. We're left behind because we stayed behind. Because it felt good. Now it doesn't. Now we fight for our freedom from the hierarchy.

  • Our communities are setup like that. We're separated from eachother, and we can't afford to spend enough time at local third places to feel community. Church also used to be central to community and most people aren't religious, but nothing has replaced the churches role in community building.

It's rough. If you can get out to places nearby where people congregate that will be nice. Getting a dog is nice too if you like dogs, they give you love and accept your love and they're a good ice breaker. They also force you out regularly. You can take the dog to dog parks and chat with locals.

It's not your fault. Humans are a social animal and we built cities and an economy that didn't consider that.

  • LMFAO.... Yes the presidential candidate who is already a felon just committed more crimes on live TV, but there are more important things in the election than choosing the best person to represent us instead of a criminal. Oh.... Wait.... No... There isn't... That's what an election is, choosing the best representative and not criminals.

  • I was going to post that video. First past the post is broken. Technology has far outpaced the idea when a YouTuber can draw harmless looking maps to not only decide elections but also decide how sensitive the election is to voters changing their minds on specific issues.

  • We've been hiring these "police trainers" that have been telling police that their job is super dangerous and anyone can kill them at anytime if they're not ready to kill at the drop of a hat. Then creating bullshit scenarios where grandma passes by in the street and shoots them. Like the lady in the red dress in the matrix training.

Anyways being a cop has a lower chance of getting you killed than being a pizza delivery driver, so these people are ALWAYS ON EDGE but the payoff never comes. So they behave like an immune system when nothing is happening by attacking the body.

So they're beating innocents and abusing criminals left right and centre and there is nothing we seem to be able to do about it other than give them more militarized equipment so they can beat us better while feeling safer doing it.

  • Can you imagine being married to someone, having a family with them, they get a really cool project at work that exposes them to some billionaire. Then they realise that a short relationship with a billionaire will get them further ahead in life than a lifetime of being with you and they drop your whole family just like that. There is nothing you can do because it's true, you'll never be able to offer them anything close to what they have access to. Convincing them into staying with you means fundamentally holding them back, forcing them into a life of regrets and what ifs.

    Fucking brutal.

  • Put that on billboards in swing districts. Can't be sued for libel because he said it. Might get Republicans but to vote. Shows on the fence voters how dumb he is (although at this point....)

  • I completely agree. This is going to free kids from someone taking a picture of them doing something relatively harmless and extorting them. "That was AI, I wasn't even at that party 🤷"

I can't wait for childhood and teenage life to being a bit more free and a bit less constantly recorded.

  • At first I thought this was a joke about how global warming is going to turn walkable cities into "swimmable cities".

The idea is awesome though, why do polluters have more rights to our waterways than human beings who have always used local water to swim and bathe.

  • What country has a system where SOLDIERS IN THE MILITARY can't be forced to invade another country?

Like it's a nice ideal, but considering your idea is novel and radical maybe start with countries that aren't at war.

Second of all, once you're at war, you're at war. There is no "just defend your territory" because that means there is no reason not to invade you and no loss scenario for your invader, the worst outcome they lose some soldiers and your borders are unaffected. Once you are attacked you have to seek every legal advantage (see the Geneva convention) to obtain victory and repel your attackers. On that basis I'm not even sure your idea is sound or reasonable in the first place for a defending country. And in this specific scenario it's just helping Russia.

I'm marking you as a Russian troll just to see how often you're on here defending Russia by "just asking questions" about the actions of Ukraine while not holding Russia to any standard at all .

  • I don't know what made them pick such a restrictive definition here. Why not extend it to extremist hate speech against any of the protected grounds (sex, sexuality, gender expression, race, age, etc...). Like it's great we're protecting one group of people from extremism, but why not protect everyone?
