  • I was there when a plane crashed on the airport where I live.

I was there when a car cought fire on the highway.

I was there when the fediverse "exploded".

    Man, my life is boring.

  • Thanks, I was also doubting about Hugo but came about writefreely as well.

  • No it's not that bad. They indeed are open about it. But it feels like baby steps in the wrong way. I don't really have an opinion but I was just a bit disappointed about the path they're going on. Because I don't see the added value of knowing what users search for. So i was curious about opinions from more educated people.

  • Librefox? Or something else? Don't know, but since Firefox is often recommended for privacy, I was wondering if this changes things?

  • You need to trust your provider. If you choose a bigger one, chances are you are a bit safer. Those kind of providers make big bucks on companies, so if they harm the trust of their customers they are out of business. You could try to choose software which implements E2EE and zero-trust to be safer, but those are not available on all software categories. VPS providers have access to all your stuff. So it's all up to you which provider you trust. I would prefer a bigger name too some obscure little basement hoster.

  • If you're already doing your own domain, why not use something like anonaddy? That can.be selfhosted as well.

  • Does your girlfriend use your devices or accounts? Seems very strange to me that they would do that. Or they want to fuck you over even more by making it less easy to deny that you didn't create that account since the password is linked to you/your girlfriend. But then again, LE would need to be made aware of the password before that makes sense.

  • Man I hope this is the right call. Could be great that they will listen to the users more, but it could also be a quick downfall from here if they get pressure from the investors.

  • Damn, that's some graphic shit. I could feel the spray hitting my ankles while reading it. Got to scrub extra hard under the shower tonight.

  • Okay, treating this seriously. No: triple triple = 333 333 333. Triple triple triple = 333 333 333 333 333 333 333 333 333.

  • I had a task running which would scan all incoming calls on all SIM cards. It then checked the numbers for known contacts and if they are unknown it would check if they called multiple times. I made it because I was bothered by a lot of spam/scam callers. This task would block all notifications, vibrations and ringtones. So it didn't bother me at all that they called.

  • Indeed. The front ends could be less or more "secure"/private. And by that I mean that I don't know how the app themselves are with access and your data. So I don't know if they collect and share any data and how reliable the developers are.

  • Indeed. Or otherwise Island as an alternative. Don't know how those two compare on the security and privacy front.

  • You can put it in a work profile and trust that Android is protective enough to keep your data safe and access limited. Otherwise buy a second phone just to put WeChat on it. Don't know how WeChat works, but if it's like Whatsapp then you don't need to bother with a secondary number.

  • Exactly, we've got words for (almost) all emojis. And besides that, even if I would go along with @takeheart@lemmy.world argument, the reason we might not have words for all emojies is because we don't need them. If we would like to, or evolve to the need, of being able to pronounce every emoji that would mean we would make sure everyone had a word or sound to it.

  • I don't think this is a shitpost, it's actually quite good. It makes you think.

  • This is something that happens in every war, but it's difficult in this particular one since there is a very slim chance other countries will come to the rescue. So it's all up to the Ukrainians themselves to cope with this thread/war.

  • I had the same thoughts as you before owning an EV. Now it's just something I deal with. I rarely use fast charging, I mainly use destination charging (at home, at work, at the shopping center). When I do sit at a charging station, I just find myself doing all the stuff anyone does while waiting for something. I browse the internet, write a response on @Showerthoughts@lemmy.world, send some work emails. Mostly stuff I would do when I'm at home as well. I just enjoy the down time and time for myself.

I don't see fast charging as a chore, it's just something that you "undergo" just as you would while waiting at the doctor's office. Is it enjoyable? Not always, but it's never a pain either. Do I hate it? No.

  • While there are really bad things about goodreads, the article/interviews give me a vibe of "boohoo, we want to decide what people like and now they decide it themselves and we don't like that."
