The welding technology that made the F1 halo strong enough to save lives

  • There are conflicting reports about Sainz and Audi deal:

Sainz has reject Audi's offer for a chance at Redbull or Merc https://www.si.com/fannation/racing/f1briefings/news/f1-rumor-carlos-sainz-declines-audi-contract-lm22

Sainz denys he has reject Audi's offer https://www.crash.net/f1/news/1047739/1/carlos-sainz-insists-no-truth-reports-he-has-turned-down-audi-f1-offer

Audi is a huge gamble at the moment and I won't blame him for not taking it. Accepting Audi's offer means driving that green meme car at the back of the grid in 2025 and hoping that Audi develops a front running car. If he can land at Merc or better yet Red Bull, he remains in the top 5 teams on the grid to challenge for points and odd podium(s) in between

  • Albon was also a contender for the Audi or Mercedes seat

No way, Audi is looking towards Albon as a contender. Sainz is a better option for both Audi and Merc. Alpine boys(mainly Gasly) are also looking to move, one of them could land at Audi.

Vowels could have helped with his promotion to Merc, but doesn't look like there was much interest from Merc.

If Vowels and Albon bring Williams to top of the midfield and I belive these two are right people for this job. He might get called back to Red Bull to replace Perez in 2026 (maybe), because I don't see another top drive for him in the near future .

Meanwhile, I am happy to see him at Williams with Vowels, hoping he gets a fair chance in a top team.

  • He could also be a strong candidate for a one-year stint with Merc until they get Kimi ready for the seat.

There is a perception that he has only raced against weak opponent(s) in Williams(Sargeant and Latifi). A year at Merc will certainly clear the doubts. Vowles could help him get in Merc and year against Russell could raise his stock even more.

I assumed Audi had its eye on him.

He is not young, I don't think he can take a gamble on Audi getting the 2026 regs right and being front of the grid.

  • Ok, made an account(used a temp email). Nothing exquisite, just being able to switch between light and dark mode. I expected an option to set the toggle to follow device default after making an account and signing in.

Doesn't even remember which mode was toggled during the previous sign in.

  • I just want them to follow system default for guest user(s).

they probably require an account because they have a system set up in a way where it's mostly a server-side app and ui settings are only stored on the server

This makes more sense for signed in user(s).

No dark mode unless you register, is what I consider to be a asshole design choice.

  • Sorry I didn't mean any negatively towards you there.

I took your previous comment to be a critic of Dexerto. Not towards me. No apology needed.

Thanks for warning me about their quality, its now on my blocklist too.

  • Ars dark mode switching is infuriating, not an asshole design choice like Dexerto here
