  • I’ve played both of those, and I really enjoyed Talos 2 since it mostly just fed you lore while you were trying to do a puzzle, but don’t ask me what the story was because I couldn’t tell ya.

I didn’t mean I couldn’t connect with the story in just those games, but in games in general. So when I talk about a game, I don’t really put much weight into my thoughts on the story, just the mechanics.

  • Yeah, my wife and I like going through archives to find shows that didn’t age well, then show those scenes to friends for laughs.

Was watching some 1940s Looney Tunes, and you expect and see racism, which makes it predictable, but every once in a while, they get in a joke or bit that catches everyone by surprise.

Here’s a scene that took place in the middle of a nice episode about National Parks: https://youtu.be/p0wtlI8qF1Ehttps://youtu.be/p0wtlI8qF1E

  • Pokemon - having to watch animations and not being able to speed anything up killed my interest

Skyrim - tried a melee run recently and the combat feels like you’re whacking air

The legend of Zelda - played Tears and the story and puzzles were a bit too kid friendly

Doom - I really tried to like it but I felt like I didn’t get anything out of it. It doesn’t scratch that itch I get out of FromSoft’s Souls games where I want to learn a boss’s patterns and die to it a million times.

In general I don’t think I can do story games anymore

  • Personally, I’m skipping the Switch 2 because I used my Switch 1 like four times since its launch.

The Switch 2 will likely have games similar to ones that came before it, so if you haven’t been tempted into trying those, you probably won’t be into the new ones.

Like, I’d want the Switch 2 for Mario Kart World but then realized that I played Kart 8 like twice. Online play didn’t scratch the itch, my wife sucked at it, and it was hard to get a group IRL together to play often.

Maybe try emulating some of the older versions of games you’re interested in. It’ll at least give you an idea of how much fun you’d have on the newer versions.

Also ask yourself if you’re a handheld gamer. I don’t think I am which is why I also don’t use my steam deck ever.

  • Depends on the context. I’ll often not reply to my wife if I can’t think of anything or it doesn’t really require a response.

From what you wrote it probably wouldn’t be normal.

My wife will send me photos of like spiders and snakes which is fun but after the tenth photo I’ll probably reply a bit slower
