  • The US military forces in the Pacific are still a deterrent, for now. But..... you're right in that the chaos is making it difficult to say what the US Federal government under Trump will do if China invades Taiwan.

I no longer think that the US will be willing to join in the defense of Taiwan if it were attacked. The orders to the military just won't be given to do so.

  • If you have Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance, the standalone expansion to the original game, make sure to download the community-run Forged Alliance Forever (FAF) client.

A lot of quality of life changes, optimizations, better network code, mod support, custom maps released almost daily by the community, and it's still actively played online even after twelve years.

All it needs is a copy of the game to verify, and it goes regularly on sale on Steam.

I like to play against the cheating AIx with one of my friends, and it never seems to get old.

  • So we really need then a TLD in a country that doesn't have or enforce online laws, or a microstate where anything goes. Something like a Sealand TLD, alongside an ISP from the same place that has no logs.

Perhaps someone can take over the Bir Tawil and turn that into a digital safe haven.

A "No-Tell Motel" but for the Internet.

  • Most definitely. The article mentioned USAJobs, which everyone goes through, including the CIA and the other alphabet agencies.

I don't know if the intelligence community does any sort of obfuscation for counterintelligence purposes (so that your job title isn't [Spy Grade 4 - Stationed in Greenland] outward facing to OPM) but they'll definitely have access to names and vitals for everyone in that system.

  • One thing I don't understand is how they treat liberals as some sort of boogeyman. Like, I get that the Democratic establishment is a bit shit because they carry corporate water most of the time, but they are leagues better than the alt-right Republicans who are currently dismantling the entire system in favor of an oligarchy.

If anything, they should be sympathetic instead of antagonistic. But perhaps this is a way to drive a wedge between the coalitions on the left? But for what purpose?
