Yeah, but the point of this post is to not have to replace the drives frequently in the first place. I run ZFS myself but I'm not about to buy cheap drives just because I can get away with it.

ZFS won't save you the expense of having to replace crappy storage.

Huh? I restart firefox multiple times a day, I was simply trying to point out that if you have automated updates and automatic clears of browsing data enabled you'll run into this. I'm not about to start doing so manually just because the browser restarts itself.

It matters more when you clear history and cookies automatically at close. You lose your entire session.

Well, that's not really the problem. The problem is that the government is covering the difference (through subsidizing the mega-corps that offer this).
