  • I remember that it was like that when I was in school, but have only come across 5 or so analog clocks in schools over the last 10 years. They even have digital clocks in the hallways. I've also not been inside elementary schools, so idk if analog clocks are still present there.

  • If you watch the video, one of the union members is at the Council meeting speaking to the City Council and another union member walks up to him to inform him that they were laid off with immediate effect. The workers both seemed genuinely surprised that they were laid off.

  • In your younger years, you have a lot more to look forward to that's tied to your age: first decade,, teen years, driving, getting a job, voting, making your own decisions, second decade, and drinking age. After that, the only things that are still age locked are at 25 when you can rent a car and your insurance goes down, the other decades, and legal age requirements for reaching certain political offices. There just isn't much else to look forward to at a specific age, so it's not as important for your brain to remember.

Misremembering people's names is not related to the age. A chunk of the population is really great at remembering names and another chunk remembers faces better. I'm more of a face person, I will most likely recognize you, but might not remember your name.

  • At least The Gays haven't summoned another hurricane!

Yeah, we really need people to get out and vote in November. We were the first state to have an in-person early voting period (since 1980), but it's still not widely utilized and the news largely ignores that 2 extra weeks we have.

  • The union jack that you see flown (just a union jack) isn't even the flag of the confederacy, it's specifically the flag for the army and navy of the confederacy. You are identifying yourself as enemy combatants with that flag.

The real flag of the confederacy changed a couple times. The first iteration looks like a knock-off of the US flag with 3 stripes and 7 stars in a blue field in the upper left. The second iteration had the union jack in the upper left hand side (where the US blue field and stare are) and the rest was white. Eventually they realized that it looked like a flag of surrender, so 36 days before the end of the war, the confederacy added a vertical red stripe on the far right side of the flag.

If their "heritage" was so important, you'd think they'd at least get it right!

  • It's winter, but we only had low Temps for a few days in January. It hit 94 (34.444 C) at the DFW Airport on Feb 26, over 80 (26.66 C) in Austin for the last 3 days, and a high temperature between 75-82 (23.88-28.33 C) for the last 3 days in Amarillo.

Usually this is the colder part of the year hovering around 50-60 degrees (10-15.5 C), but this year has been warmer. In the last decade, we've had Temps like this up to Christmas time and then it usually doesn't get this warm until aprilish. Climate change has really been messing with our temperatures though.

  • The courts are going to ban it, just as they sanctioned hair-based racial discrimination in TX despite a law protecting against that specific discrimination.

It'll be just like abortion being denied the people. Bans for thee and rights for me

  • Here are a couple links to websites that tall about hair length for cornrows:

From the following link: "For super curly or frizzy hair, it is best to have about 5 inches...

For slightly straight, curly hair it is best to have about 6 inches...

Wavy and straight hair needs about 8 inches of hair or longer" https://www.silkielocks.com/uncategorized/what-is-the-minimum-length-of-hair-for-cornrows/

From the following link "To get cornrows, your hair should be at least two inches long, but ideally, it should be closer to three or four inches." https://foreverbraids.com/hair-length-for-braids/

This study shows that average earlength for a male aged 18-30 is 60-65 mm (2.32-2.55 in).https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6018292/

The district dress code says that "Male students' hair will not extend below the eyebrows or below the ear lobes. Male students' hair must not extend, below the top of a t-shirt collar or be gathered or worn in a style that would allow the hair to extend below the top of a t-shirt collar, below the eyebrows, or below the earlobes when let down".https://www.bhisd.net/fs/resource-manager/view/0a5c185d-5719-4e62-bc86-2734b4725685

If the hairs in a cornrow are let out of their braids, they will be longer than the ear. That ear length study shows ear length for 18-30 year olds, who by and large have finished growing. The hiar length for an 8 year old student still ideally needs to be at least 3 inches and their ears are going to be shorter because they havent hit their growth spurts yet. Thus the district's dress code effectively bans cornrows, which is the reason that the CROWN Act was passed in the first place.

  • The district suspended him and put him in ISS (in-school suspension) on the grounds that the code of conduct says that boy hair must be short. The ruling upholds the district punishing the student because his hair is long. This means that the ruling forces students to have short hair when the district mandates it.
