I don't have fire stick. But previously used kodie in a bunch of devices. Strmio is 100% better. It doesn't have as many customisations, but it just works. And has no delays. Either app get premiumize and for stremio follow a guide to get the right addons.

Newpipe is getting updates on fdroid again and seem like will be getting updates for the foreseeable future as the issue stopping it is solved.
Settings > General Management > Language > Spelling Correction > Default spell checker. This (rarley mentioned) setting is separate to your keyboard. Having both keyboard and this set to Samsung is a good option. QIf not, try the GBoard app and put both as that. HeliBoard is an open source version of GBoard. Development has only just restartef so I recomendation getting a normal version working first.
