  • Seen lovers in a dangerous spacetime a few times here now, will definitely run it past them. Pizza possum also looks like it could fit us super well!

Crokinole looks interesting, looks like a little bit of a rabbit hole I will have to check out a bit later.

    Thanks!

  • We do play some board games. I think magic has the same problem as with mario kart, but with less pick up and play-ability. We liked playing gloomhaven ok, but I have to do the setup.

That kind of spliting gameplay could maybe work for us eventually, but I kind of doubt it at this point.

    Thanks!

  • I think there are a lot of jrpgs they'd enjoy, if they became interested in gaming on their own. As is if they aren't in control they disengage pretty fast, and they aren't interested enough yet to want to play a single player thing I don't think.

  • I think this is one we'll check out. I bounced off it a few years ago, but I think that was because I played it in a party where I was more interested in just hanging out and catching up with the other players.

  • I really like Secret of Mana. I think because I've already played through it would make it less of a good coop game for them, but if I can get them a little interested in playing on their own I think it would have potential as an early game for them.

  • I think they struggled to even parse what was going on in overcooked, and need more experience playing games generally to be able to enjoy that kind of chaos because they just felt lost.

Alas, beating bots on Mario Kart means nothing to them.

That's 2 fast recs for it takes two, so I think thats probably gonna be on the shortlist.

I think I have NSMBU on wii u in storage at my parent's house. We're visiting in for the holidays, so maybe we'll hook up the wii u there and try that. I remember liking that game a lot.

    Thanks!

  • Its a contingency, but if you need it, you really need it. I think I'd otherwise be fine with the other 3. My next choices are probably tent, body armor, first aid kit, flashlight, then NVGs.

A tent would be useful, but tents are super common, I can probably loot one from somewhere. My current neck of the woods it wouldn't really be necessary though.

Body armor might help if I get surprised by one or two zombies and let me get away, but I reeeeally don't want to be in melee with zombies. Even with body armor that could easily be a loss, especially if its not just one or two.

First aid kit is useful, but unless a tourniquet can prevent zombification, its mostly gonna be for mundane stuff, blisters, scrapes, strains, and sprains. They are also commonly available and should be lootable. If not, most of its contents are probably improvise-able.

Flashlight, genuinely useful but probably lootable, reliant on electricity, probably draws unwanted attention.

NVGs, are cool and probably slightly useful. Going on the offensive against either zombies or other survivors is not in my game plan, I guess they could help hunt.

All these seem to be somewhat limited in their utility. Whereas the respirator is either vital, or a light encumberance.

  • I've had the non internet connected one for a few years, and overall I like it a lot. There've been a couple of maintenance issues, but all in all I was able to fix them myself with youtube tutorials.

Mine tends to go about a week and a half to 2 weeks between emptying it out, and it does smell a bit by 2 weeks. I've thought about rigging it up to have a larger bin, but then I'd have to carry a larger bag of refuse out.

  • Crossbow, respirator, fire axe, water purifier.

Crossbow can reuse ammunition as long as you can find your bolts, and improvising shitty bolts is simpler than anyvother ranged weapon.

If zombie plague is airborne, full mask respirator is gonna be essential.

Fire axe is a decent survival and breaching tool, not really considering it a weapon.

Water purifier essential so you don't die of dysentery, or if the zombie plague is waterborne.

  • That lack of time is a direct result of studio meddling. The studios pushed Guillermo del Toro out, threatened Peter Jackson with removing the production from New Zealand to force him into coming on as director, and tried to force him to keep to a similar timetable as the GDT production.
