  • The right loves him because he reduced the rates of crime in El Salvador.

Problem is that his approach was to just throw everything that moves in a slightly funny way in jail. This does admittedly reduce crime, but in a similar way to how a nuclear bomb really is the most effective crime reduction tool - if you kill everyone on the planet, no one can commit any crimes, hence the crime rate will be 0.

  • Sweden: These are called Tunnbrödrulle (flat bread roll)

Chile: These are called Completos (complete ones, the whole package basically. A hot dog with everything on it). They are also commonly served with Chilean-style mustard and Ají, a spicy sauce.

If I had to choose between them, I'd go for a Completo. Those things will be the death of me, but I will in the very least die happy

  • Well, they should have added proper labels to them instead of just writing the country name.

The Swedish one is not strictly speaking a "Swedish-style hot dog" - when we eat hot dogs, it's mostly a bread/sausage/ketchup/mustard-deal. The one in the picture is a Tunnbrödrulle (flat bread roll), which does contain a sausage, but it's not what I would call a hot dog by any means.

    They are good, though!

  • Is that Thai I see on the sign in the back? I guess it would track with the method of delivery as well. A bit too far away to tell definitively, but I would say it's probably SEA at least

  • It's a bit hard to tell from the public information on the subject, but either way, it's not a per-view model - which cannot exist in a fixed-price all-access environment for practical reasons.

I'm not sure how practical it would be to do the royalty payments on an individual user consumption level, but I have little insight into the implementation here.

  • Eggs are not that expensive in Sweden, but in all honesty I don't really eat that many eggs in a week. Maybe if we use it as an ingredient, or maybe I'm having a boiled egg as a healthy snack, but I think most weeks it would be 0.

  • That being said, from what I am aware of, Nebula still pays creators more than YouTube per view.

I think it's really important that we stop talking in terms of payment on a per-view basis - Nebula does not pay on a per-view basis. Nebula uses the same model as music streaming companies, i.e. a pro rata stream share model. This means that creators get paid based on how large of a percentage of the total streaming time was on their content. No additional money is generated for each view, it's conceptually still a fraction of what you pay monthly. The more content you view on the platform, the less each view conceptually pays.

  • Trumps a lunatic, but one thing he does understand is business.

This is mostly a branding thing, he's not actually particularly good at running businesses.

I'll give him that he's somewhat of an expert in avoiding any form of accountability.

  • Not exactly what I would classify as a plummet, but we were seeing green numbers for the day and then they subsequently turned down once this was announced.

Still too early to say whether we're going to be looking at any form of sharp downturn.

  • In Sweden, this was a relic from the time when TVs were a luxury exclusively used by rich people, i.e. when they were first introduced to the market. As TVs successively got cheaper, it became essentially a tax on every household.
