Not trying to be better than anyone, and I do agree that it may not be the biggest of deals. But I'm a native speaker, and I'm just pointing out the grammar part and making people aware that it's a Republican epithet.
Agreed. While I do think there's a political component to this story, I haven't found a viable general news community on Lemmy, unfortunately. Would have been happy to post there, too.
If you have found a good news community, feel free to let me know.
Fun fact: As of 2023, the 2004 general election between Bush and Kerry is the only Presidential election since 1988 where Republicans have won the popular vote.
Democrat is a noun. Democratic is an adjective. You can say "vote for a Democrat," but you can't say "vote Democrat" because you're referring to the Democratic Party where "Democratic" is the adjective. In that case, it would be "vote Democratic."
Republicans love to use slurs like "the Democrat Party." That's probably where you've heard it.
Ironically, Christians always complain about the hate they are getting from "the world."
In reality, Christians just need to get out of bed with the Republican Party. Most people don't hate Christians or any other religious group for that matter, but many people hate the Republican Party. With evangelicals being in something of a symbiotic relationship with the Republican Party, they are hated by proxy.
They see how Georgia has changed and continues to change. The Atlanta metro has completely overrun the rest of the state. The GOP has problems in any state with a large, dominant metro area.
Thanks for the response. I appreciate it. It's ok to agree to disagree. Especially on a minor issue like this.
