  • propagandists don't always need to invent false facts to use them in deceptive ways

    Doing some subtle straw man arguments there, huh? Or just missed the rest of the comment?

    If I use a true fact and blatantly ignore other facts and context to try to start an ethnic cleansing, should I be censored or not? The most dangerous lies are the ones that have bits of truth in them to gloss over the bad bits.

    Don't pretend that intent isn't important, or that the world is black and white. Ignoring nuance is the most egregious underlying issue with conservatives.

  • I haven't entirely switched in part due to Rainbow Six Siege not working on Linux. Something about Battleye supports it but Ubi hasn't done the few simple steps to allow it. So it's not entirely working yet

    Edit: Apparently this is one of the best ways to let Ubisoft know that players want this fixed https://r6fix.ubi.com/projects/RAINBOW6-SIEGE-LIVE/issues/LIVE-49179

  • NASA isn't sacrificing American's wellbeing, regressing into fascism, or committing war crimes. That's multiple other branches of the government. Despite whatever media you're consuming the US gov isn't one unified dictatorship, as much as a certain political group would like it to be.

    NASA is one of the few branches of our government that's actually somewhat decent and doesn't need a complete overhaul to benefit our country or world. It's already paying us back the relatively small budget allocated to them in several ways. So your comment is basically a whataboutism.

  • blindly accept this random comments version of events here?

    Pretty sure that's exactly the opposite of that comments intent. They're providing another unfortunately likely possibility to encourage us to question the version of events that we're being told by the cops.

    We shouldn't just immediately believe either scenario is 100% true. But maybe we can ask for body cam footage to confirm the cops version of events

  • Because sex work is not unethical. Racism is unethical.

    Wait till those kids find out almost every adult ever has sex. So inappropriate and unhealthy 🙄 maybe the parents should be parents and teach their kids about sex and porn and not interacting with adults they may know on Only Fans, especially as teenagers.

  • Nothing more Republican than having the government artificially restrict free market capitalism... wait that not what every Republican I've ever known has said they support. Weird.

  • Amazon owns both the product and the platform. They often are involved in the delivery of the products as well. This gives them quite a bit of control over other companies selling on their platform. They can push whatever product they like to the top of the page. They can copy other products and push the original to the last page of results, and then drop their price until the other company can't compete, and then raise their prices.

    They have a lot of control which allows them to be anti competitive. And allegedly they use that

  • I worked at Burger King 8 years ago, we only microwaved one burger. That's the veggie burger, that thing was the worst. All the rest though, you generally don't have to microwave because it's kept pretty warm in the heating thing.

    Also, pigeons are basically the chicken of the sky. And it keeps the local pigeon population down so really a win win 🤷

  • Haha jokes on you, I lied. I'm not using LineageOS. I'm posting from a Google Chrome web browser on my Chromebook running ChromeOS. I don't even know what LineageOS is, I just Googled it. Maybe I'll switch to it after watching a YouTube tutorial on it, but for now my phone is just a rock and a string that I stare at for 3 hours a day ☺️ because I refuse to use Android

  • “Every reconstruction involves some level of inference and speculation to literally ‘flesh out’ details not preserved in the fossil record,” Celeskey explains. “In the process of creating paleoart, artists and the researchers have discussions about how to fill in these missing pieces, which helps everyone involved to think about how they are interpreting the actual evidence at hand.” From a NatGeo article I found

  • There HAVE been lawsuits, yes! And DoorDash lost the class action that alleged they misclassified its workers as independent contractors when they should be classed as employees. They paid 100mil for that, and that's just one case.

    But don't just take my word for it. Here's Californias labor laws on the test for determining employee vs contractor;

    Under the ABC test, a worker is considered an employee and not an independent contractor, unless the hiring entity satisfies all three of the following conditions:

    • The worker is free from the control and direction of the hiring entity in connection with the performance of the work, both under the contract for the performance of the work and in fact;
    • The worker performs work that is outside the usual course of the hiring entity’s business; and
    • The worker is customarily engaged in an independently established trade, occupation, or business of the same nature as that involved in the work performed.
  • No, it's simply the quickest way to add an additional income for desperate people needing a second job. No interviews, no resume needed, you don't even need a car.

    I quit after I realized it was costing more in gas and car maintenance than I was making. Imagine driving 20 miles for $3. With pick up and drop off, that's at least half an hour. At that rate, you're making $6/hour. It absolutely 100% depends on customer tips to actually pay it's dashers
