  • Nothing of that. Its not like Israel is trying to kill Palestinians, but killing Hamas. And by doing so, the civilians of the country can die without it being a genocide. The allied forces didn't commit a genocide in Dresden, Germany. And the US didn't commit a genocide in Hiroshima.

  • Weird, because the lawyer is claiming so: '“We intend to bring legal proceedings against the U.S. Government based on overwhelming evidence that the U.S. Government has, and is, aiding, abetting and supporting, encouraging or providing material assistance and means to Israel and the Israeli Defense Forces. This conduct by the U.S. Government has enabled and continues to enable Israel to engage in international crimes against the Palestinian people,” the South African lawyers said in a letter sent to US President Joe Biden on January 2.'

  • Thats the stupidest thing ive heard in a while. So every country that sells arms to any state is liable for all crimes committed with it? So Iran and Turkey are responsible for Putins actions? Thats just ridiculous.

  • Thats simply incorrect. For example 'Deutschlandfunk Der Tag' did a long series (~5 hours) about the impact of the war on Palestinians living under Hamas occupation during the war and their feelings towards Israel. They even did a Meta-report 'How much attention does the dying in Gaza get in german media' where they interviewed Salma Abuzaina, a Palestine activist in germany.

Maybe you just don't consume public funded media if you haven't heard any report about it. The conflict between reporting on Palestinian deaths and Isreali deaths without negating the suffering of any of the parties is a huge topic in german media.

  • Thats not the definition of a genocide... Germany killed 1 % of the french population in WW2 and its wasn't a genocide.

A genocide is characterized by the intention to annihilate a people. And while the far right in Israel is voicing support for a genocide, the current offensive is definitely not a genocide. This doesn't mean that its not against international law or just. But it simply doesnt fit the definition of a genocide – no matter how often you call it that way.

  • Its weird AF. Volkswagen is known as the company with by far the biggest workers unification in Germany. Its a legit career path to become the highest ranked workers representative and a significant share of the board members are current of former worker representatives.

There have been some rumors that Volkswagen is treating the worker representatives too well to make them less demanding (extremely high pay, direct access to the CEO, etc.), but thats about it.

Really weird that this is different in the US. Seems to be more a national culture thing and less of a company culture thing.

  • Switzerland is also a lot more integrated than GB. Remember when we discussed hard vs. soft brexit? Soft Brexit would have left GB in a similar state like Switzerland and Norway. But we got a hard brexit.

  • The correct way to to cite it would be: 'OHCHR has confirmed the killings at Al Awdabuilding [...].'

Its simply wrong to not do it. Especially cutting of the sentence at a ','.

And the last time a crime against humanity was still under investigation – where it was obvious that a rocket hit a hospital, but the exact circumstances where still unclear – it was later confirmed that Hamas hit the hospital.
