    1. The war of Russia against Ukraine is still covered in most news – its just not happening much due to the current stalemate.
    2. The general consensus regarding Israel is the same like before the war: the Settling is breaking international law and needs to stop. At the same time Hamas is a terrorist organization. It's a classic 'everybody sucks here – but one side is significantly worse' and the palestinians are suffering from the conflict between Hamas and Israel.
  • Thats not the reason, but economics is. For example Korea and Japan – where the gender norms are pretty conservative – have a lot lower birthrate than Sweden – one of the most equal countries. It more depends on wealth being the most important factor, social security systems and workforce participation of women.

So either avoid getting wealthy, get a lot of immigration or get the social security systems in place to make it easy getting kids.

  • He is heard boasting about having an affair, saying "everyone" at Mediaset, the TV company he works for, "knows it, and now you do too", and then makes lewd references to group sex. Giambruno is heard asking: "Will you join our group, our working group?"

    Good old christian family values.

  • This only talks about rent. And when rent increases, so does the value of the property, because you can get more money as rents are higher.

If you now consider the amount of work you have to invest into owning property and the associated risk of owning a house or flat, in an ideal market its simply not possible.

And while the housing market is imperfect due to the high burden for entrance, I have never seen a proper calculation where mortage, insurance and maintanance comes out lower than renting.

And, as a matter of fact, it doesnt even in your own example Sydney: https://www.smh.com.au/money/saving/as-costs-soar-is-it-cheaper-to-rent-or-buy-20230407-p5cywp.html

  • Thats not what I said. I said that my perspective would benefit the discussion, comming from a western country. Compared to the perspective that was voiced in the discussion before, which was pretty one-sided. You know, to get a whole picture.

  • I discussed a lot with people at lemmygrad and lemmy.ml. Because I really thought that these are people from a developing nation, which are fed russian and chinese propoganda all day and giving a second perspective benefits the discussion.

Ive never gotten death threats before. Now I got dozens. And not in private messages, but straight up as comment.
