  • Nothing gives a company a harder boner then needlessly rebranding shit. It's the business equivalent to food corporations putting "NEW AND IMPROVED" on their same old product, while reducing the size of the product.

    I hate it.

  • And boy, do I wish plastic didn't take off like that. Every new finding about how many particles slough off, and get breathed in or ingested, it makes me wish we were still using metal, wood, and glass, for packaging.

In reference to the article, I think the number one consideration is scalability of production. Producing a new material in laboratory to the tune of a few grams is a far cry from using the same process to produce tons of usable product in a factory.

Here's hoping that they can move this into an industrial process quick so we can see some benefits.

  • I'm very ensconced in Googles environment. I stopped using google for searching, and I disabled every single tracking feature I could find in Google Maps, and my Android phone.

But I rely on gmail, google docs, task, and G-Drive a ton. I see some great suggestions here for Gmail replacements, but what about replacements for Google Docs and G-Drive?

  • It's most likely sitting at work for such extended amounts each day has your hip flexors tightening up. When hip flexors get tight (they're at the top of my quads connecting to the hips) they cause the hips to tilt due to the extra pull the tightened hip flexors are exerting.

Due to the hips tilting, the lower back had to work harder to compensate, and over time it causes the lower back muscles to get angry, tight, painful, and can even have muscle spasms.

I've dealt with this for years, the solution for me is hip flexor stretches, and using a roller to roll out the tight hip flexors. I've experienced the beginnings of discomfort in my lower back, then start using a "sprinter stick' to get the hip flexors to relax by rolling them, plus stretches, then my back pain starts going away.

I too work in a office, I also sit and game a lot too, so this has been a problem for me for years. It wasn't until the last year did I get told what the real problem was, and now that I have a solution, I'm happy to share that with you.

Also everyone else suggesting exercise aren't wrong, I know it sucks, but exercise helps a ton of other things too, so it's worth considering, even if it's just long walks at first. If you have any follow up questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

  • I believe @skillissuer is pointing out that in order to broadcast the 1500km that Dick Tracy's watch was said to have would require a ton of power. That power would make it dangerous to have on your wrist. That's just what I pieced together through context though.

  • My prior car had no fancy features, the nicest thing it could do was read MP3's burned on to a CD, and hold 6 CDs in the player. I traded it in and got newer car, and I think it's level of fanciness is just right for me. It has a screen, I ignore it most of the time, unless I plug my phone in to listen to music. Then I use the screen to get into Youtube Music and that's it. Or the same situation as before, but I need to navigate with Google Maps.

So by and large I can 100% ignore the screen, unless I plug in the phone. But all control of Next Track/Back, volume up/down is controlled by buttons on the steering wheel.

The largest nightmare for me is tough sensitive controls FOR EVERYTHING! I've read that it's becoming more and more common in new expensive cars, and I have not interested in that bullshit.

  • Hey now, I'm a northerner, and I'm not down with maple sage sausage either. I just want plan normal breakfast sausage, no hint of sweetness to it or any other shenanigans. I don't eat Jimmy Deans, but I can get behind his man's message about downsizing available items but charging the same. I hate that practice so much, corporate greed knows no bounds.

  • You know...... that might actually make this watchable. Great CGI for all the monsters, fantastic action and gun play, and Jack Black wearing a cardboard box around his waist, vaguely painted to look like a robot, as if done by a child.

  • The very first thing announced for the movie was the cast, and it immediately killed any hope I had. Cate Blanchett as Lilith - Odd choice, Lilith didn't seem that old in the games. Kevin Hart as Roland - Wtf, nothing about Kevin Hart screams strong professional soldier! Jack Black as Clap Trap - I love Jack Black, but why choose him when the voice actor for Clap Trap from the games exists!? Certainly, Clap Trap will be CGI, so why not use the original voice actor?

  • Oh man, I laughed out loud when the weirdly dubbed voice says, "Get me some water!" and the robot replies in a cute almost anime-like voice "I'm sorry, I can't reach it, I'll dance to pleasure you instead". That's god damn gold!

  • That doesn't seem like a prudent idea.
