  • I love the controls in Knight, when I was playing I knew all the quick shortcuts for the gadgets, was properly countering three at a time including holding direction towards each enemy when counting and everything it was bliss. Are you sure you just weren't a little unfamiliar with them? Because I remember then being meticulous.

God I can't believe they shoved the batmobile in there and put such a focus on it, it really detracted from the rest of the game.

  • Perhaps one of the stupidest fucking ideas ever. "Let's add more and more and more distractions for drivers. A touch screen so they have to stop looking at the road! An AI to distract them with inane rambling, because we think that's an enriching conversation since we are also robots. Add that to the ads on radio fucking with you by being different volumes and having car beeping noises and shit in them and WE WILL FINALLY ERADICATE THE DRIVERS"

  • Comedy Bang Bang - improv comedy where Scott Aukerman interviews interesting people, and by interesting people i mean comedians playing absurd characters. It's been going for fifteen years, Paul F Tompkins, Jason Mantzoukas, and Ben Schwarz are all regulars, and it's the only podcast I listen to almost every week.

Get Played - a gaming podcast featuring Heather Anne Campbell, Matt Wiger and Nick Apodaca (I've almost definitely misspelled or misremembered at least one of these names). They talk about games whilst being very funny - Heather is a comedy writer, Matt is occasionally on Comedy Bang Bang. It's the only gaming podcast I listen to despite much of their coverage being games I am not interested in.

  • The world is invaded by day walker vampires somehow. Most of the human population is dead or turned, those remaining live under a cloud of distrust and paranoia - anyone could be a vampire. even the people you know could've been turned since you last saw them.

I don't notice. Because of social anxiety, I stayed indoors.

  • Cool, I'm glad! What nwn mod did you make? I may have seen it around.

The thing to do in Baldur's gate 3 is give everything heavy to your fighter/barbarian/strength character as they'll be able to carry an outrageous amount of stuff. I had Karlach running around throwing weapons out of her inventory every turn because she was carrying them for me to sell, it was amazing. With enraged throw it only takes a bonus action and knocks enemies prone! Just had to remember to pick them all back up afterwards.

I've filled up a few times in divinity, just started selling and bartering it to every person I could find that has any money. That or give it to beast, who is my stupid strong loot carrier in that game at the moment. My favourite bit of divinity is how accessible the spells are. Easy to find, can use them all you like other than a cooldown, and if you want more improve memory. Not having to rest all the time didn't hurt either.

  • That's cool, I loved NWN. Unfortunately I was 13 so DND games were basically an insurmountable wall because they barely bothered to explain themselves.

I guess you took my comment commiserating, saying you get used to it quicker than DND, encouraging you to keep going, and giving tips for finding gold as an argument. Sorry, never mind.

  • I mean, I'm playing through 2 with my sister at the moment and we aren't having any trouble, though I've played it before obviously so not really the same.

If anything Divinity is way less complex than DND, especially older DND CRPGs like the original Baldur's Gate. I can see it taking a couple hours to adjust but after that you basically know what you need, whereas dnd will just keep pulling up obscure bullshit you couldn't possibly know about in advance without actually studying the rules like there's a test coming up.

And Gold is everywhere. Standard CRPG rules: pick up all the non-baaic loot and sell it. Gold cup? That's worth like 60 gold but weighs 0.1...uh, weight units. This painting is worth hundreds of gold, best take it with me. This unique weapon I can use sells for a lot as well. And equipment isn't really expensive unless you buy it, we've found all our equipment and we were practically buried under the spares, so we sold it and we are rich. Also, get the Lucky Find ability or whatever it's called, randomly adds loot to containers...and you open so many containers. The biggest issue with those games, and any CRPG, is inventory management. Can't even sell all your wares at the touch of a button in D:OS2 I think.

Stick at it though, it can be challenging early because there's limited encounters with low level enemies, so you spend a bit of time bumping up against the tougher ones before you can handle them whilst you find your way around.

You want crazy difficulty curves? Divinity Original Sin 1, if I remember right, designed its map so you have to travel north and then clockwise around it to encounter things in an order you can handle as you're levelling up in the first area. It is crazy.
