  • Well, the perfect downloader that you were looking for is JDownloader. It is open-source, can download from multiple links from a file into a single folder automatically and intercept browser downloads (with an extension). I've never used a premium file sharing host, but JDownloader does have options to log in to your account on many hosts, so that if you have a premium account on one of them, you can get the higher download speeds or bypass any bandwidth limits by the host, etc... I'm not sure about downloading YouTube videos though, I don't think JDownloader has a built in way to download YouTube videos (correct me if I'm wrong).

  • It's a Google thing, not necessarily an app thing. Apps will have a minimum SDK level (basically the oldest Android version the app can run on) and a target SDK level (the Android version that the app is optimised for, which is usually the latest Android version). Google keeps increasing the SDK level requirements for apps to be published on the Play Store, so if an app is too old and hasn't received any updates, you will see that message. But chances are that the app will run just fine if you install it from an APK file.

It may seem ridiculous but it's good because it prevents people from installing super old apps, which may leave room for exploits in modern versions of Android.

  • Well, you can block individual communities. So you can try blocking the biggest communities on those instances, so you probably won't see much of them again. Or else, just stick to the Subscribed view, that's what I do.

  • I'll list almost all of the options with highest to least priority.

    Necessities:

    • Remove comment (with reason), and restore
    • Remove post (with reason), and restore
    • Lock post, and unlock
    • View reports from users on posts and comments (I mean this) - This is probably the hardest to implement but it's also kind of the most important tool for moderators
    • Ban user from community, and unban

These options are not as important to be present on the app but would still be very nice to have:

    • View modlog of a community - It doesn't have to be perfect, just something to quickly see what's going on. This is something anyone can see!
    • Feature/pin a post, and unfeature
    • Ability to edit the community name and sidebar/About section, so you can make quick changes when needed
    • Ability to see these stats (maybe in the About section), so you can see how a community is doing. Anyone can also see these stats too!
    • Appoint user as mod, and remove them as a mod - On the desktop website, you should go to the specific user's post or comment on your community and select 'Appoint as mod' from the options to make them a moderator, which is kind of confusing if you don't know where to look. Hopefully there's an easier way to do this, where you can bypass that post or comment to appoint or remove any user as a mod (if possible)
  • Ah yes, I think I didn't check before but yeah, I don't have any moderation tools available. It's probably not the highest priority for the app, but I'm willing to wait. Atleast I can use the Open in browser option and do anything I want from there with the desktop site.

I don't really have a second account, so maybe I'd guess it's a bug? That sounds strange to be a feature.

  • Yes, I have. But I primarily used to browse Reddit on my phone, so it sucked there wasn't a proper way to use Lemmy on my phone.

  • Hey there, I'll surely report bugs that I encounter if not already reported!

Edit: It'd be nice if there was a separate view for the number of upvotes and downvotes for posts and comments. I can still see them by going into Nerd Stuff and looking at the counts but a toggle to view them right on the post/comment would be great!
