It's like they see the admin badge and reactionary downvote.

And defederation is necessary to stop more recruitment/indoctrination of the lowest common denominator, who are very susceptible to appeals to emotional reasoning and propoganda techniques.

Nah, call the alt-right extremists out for what they are. Tankies too.

If you're a reasonable conservative, you shouldn't feel called out by condemnation of the extremists.

What about how these assholes were harassing LGBTQ+ users with hate? Defederation was called for and urgently needed. That behavior is indefensible and breaks site rules.

Propoganda is not a genuine exchange of ideas, and users should not be subjected to hate and bigotry.

There's one part that has always been a lie perpetuated by beehaw: lemmy.world did have an email verification requirement for sign up at that time, despite what beehaw claimed.

I know this, because I made my account right at that period of time, just days before they defederated.

I started a discovery plus account because I wanted to watch Mythbusters and Dirty Jobs again, after all these years. Then immediately after, the merger happened and they came to max (without commercials like on my discovery trial), so I immediately canceled discovery plus.

I support the defederation from hexbear when one of their purposes is to spread propoganda (including pro-russian propoganda on the Ukraine war despite the atrocities russia has committed...). That community vote brigaded on reddit, and there was some reason to believe they were doing it here with alts on the posts debating the issue.

With that said, it does not by any means justify inaction here with this hate-filled cesspool. If the lemmy.world mods don't defederate then they should absolutely be called out for it.

Rammy.site does not load for me when I try to view it from lemmy.world, but it does load if I search rammy.site on a browser.

However, instances that spread hate and propoganda should be defederated from regardless if people can block the instance individually. They should not be given an audience to radicalize.

If it's as bad as it sounds from the quotes I read, then it should definitely be defederated from. Any instance peddling hate and/or propoganda needs to be defederated immediately. They need to be denied audiences.

Edit: Well following the rammy.site link thru lemmy.world does not load at all, but it loads just fine if I search rammy.site on a browser. Could that mean that lemmy.world admins have defederated already, and haven't announced it yet? Here's hoping.

Man it's wild seeing this posted.. Haven't been back down there to visit family in a few years. I don't think I'll even recognize Santa Rosa Beach/Destin anymore.

Wouldn't surprise me honestly, but these have been going on since before the hexbear announcement. I would say it's rather convenient timing, but in reality these attacks have been very frequent so it is likely a coincidence. I'd wager more on the alt-right neonazis from exploding heads being the responsible party.

Really ramped up after the alt-right extremists on exploding heads were defederated from. There was also turmoil yesterday with the announcement that lemmy.world won't federate with hexbear, and a lot of the users of that instance employ some shady tactics to influence and astroturf. Or it could just be some dumb troll. Who knows?..

Man I feel like I'm spamming this in this thread.. but this is a really helpful website for finding reliable, unbiased sources.
