  • The issue isn't that the parties are the same. It is that neither should be in power. And you're all too fucking brainwashed to realize the only way out of this mess without violent revolution is a third party gaining power. And even with, probably.

  • I'm of two minds about this.

Like. If you're present in another country on a student Vida you're essentially a guest and a certain level of respect, and gratitude, I feel, is important for that privilege. Even if the right to protest is guaranteed for that country's citizens you are not citizens.

That being said I think our shared duty to do the right thing should bear more weight than any sense of obligation or hospitality.

Given the long dick of the US, rising racist sentiment, and the personal risk it takes to put yourself on the line for a greater cause, I think protesting is probably the right thing even if it is kind of rude.

For better or worse activism can be a big part of campus life and I don't think a culture of fear is conducive to a healthy academic sphere.

When I was in uni I was constantly dodging massive protests / counter protests from Israelis / Palestinians, having lectures interrupted. It annoyed the hell out of me at the time but in hindsight I'm grateful to have lived in a place where people could fight for their views, even if they supported Israel and were stupid dipshits.

  • That's what they said basically.

Like. You can compile better or more diverse datasets to train a model on. But you can also have better code training on the same dataset.

The model is what the code poops out after its eaten the dataset I haven't read the paper so no idea if the better training had to do with some super unique spin on their dataset but I'm assuming its better code.

  • Increasingly I feel like our only hope for the future is somehow achieving ASI and that it somehow is benevolent in spite of our numerous failings as a species and KT basically starts manipulating us or directly controlling us away from self destruction.

There are so many doomsday scenarios on the horizon that if it ends up being evil we may at least be able to take it down with us.

  • I have spent a very considerable amount of time tinkering with using ai models of all sorts.

Personally, I don't know shit. I learned about... Zero entropy loss functions (?) The other day. That was interesting. I don't know a lick of calculus and was able to grok what was going on thanks to a very excellent YouTube video. Anyway, I guess my point is that suddenly everyone is an expert.

I'm not. But I think it' neat.

Like. I've spent hundreds or possibly thousands of hours learning as much as I can about AI of all sorts (as a hobby) and I still don't know shit. I trained a gan once. On reddit porn. Terrible results. Great learning.

Its a cool state to be in cuz there's so much out there to learn about.

I'm not entirely sure what my point is here beyond the fact that most people I've seen grandstanding about this stuff online tend to get schooled by an actual expert.

I love it when that happens.

  • Because some of them, and their associated email accountsz hadn't been used in years.

And there is nothing linking any of the emails / accounts except my.phone number.

Five email accounts, 20 odd reddit accounts. I've only used one account / email for the past year. And that's from a PC / phone that were new around that time

  • I pirate literally everything.

I used yt-dlp and downloaded a shitload of old commercials once and I stick then in a random playlist to get the full TV effect. Never know what'll be on.

From the bottom of my heart, to everyone involved in the production of any kind of media: I hope you fall face into a fifty deep wishing well full of human shit and erect dicks.

  • I agree with you on 1. I hope it never fucking changes. The worst thing that could happen is we get the critical mass of dipshits that turns every online service into a fucking shit tornado.

  • I was recently banned from reddit.

    On all my accounts.

    Across four email addresses.

    Simultaneously.

Many of which haven't been used in months. Years in some cases.

So - banned on one account linked to one address. Accounts linked to four other email addresses were banned. None of those accounts have been logged into from any device the account I got banned from was being used on.

The emails are linked to my phone number though.

So. Two steps ahead of you. But. They are either using some kind of NLP to identify the way I write. Or google is sharing that the accounts are linked to my phone number.

Anyway. Reddit can fuck right off. And I'll be buying a burner phone with cash to make some accounts soon.
