Congratulations on your continued recovery!

There seems to be a weird protective culture centered around alcohol use. There's all these levels of people who declare themselves as "social drinkers" or "drinking to celebrate an occasion" as if it somehow recuses someone from responsibility for their actions. Then there are those who drink daily (sometimes quite heavily) but because they aren't "drunk" it's supposed to be ignored.

It can be quite frustrating at times.

I don't pretend to have all the answers or understand everyone's thoughts, but it seems like it's all too common for people to drink first and think second.

Ideally you'd use both. Something like a pihole to serve as a first wall of defense for the entire network, and then additional things like uBlock Origin for any device with a browser that supports it, for some more granular control.

This is how I keep my home setup.

The pihole has a fairly loose blocking setup because some people in the house need access to things that would normally get blocked and I'm not spending weeks unblocking specific things until everyone is happy.

Behind the pihole everyone has their own suite of browser extensions and software to block what they would like at a much more personal level.

I'd love to see PC remakes of Final Fantasy games from the PlayStation era. Fix whatever bugs there were and add an option to toggle traditional graphics to modern AAA title graphics and I'm good.

I was generalizing. Advertising for alcohol is everywhere, just like tobacco was years ago. Just like tobacco they figured out ways to skirt the laws and still get the message across. Sponsorships from companies pushing their 0% alcohol beers, super bowl beer commercials that become water cooler conversation in offices, etc.

I was drawn to them when they were new and different and it seemed like some of the problems were just growing pains. Now it seems like Tesla started as a great idea and quickly got steamrolled into a clown show like everything else Elon touches. At one point I wanted a model 3 but now I'd rather have a gas electric hybrid like a Prius or something and an ebike or scooter.

Alcoholism is terrible to watch play out, especially if it's happening to a loved one who won't give it up. It's a shame it's so normalized in society.

I thought post nut was supposed to bring clarity, not whatever the fuck this is.
