Is it okay to use the surroundings? Humans are good with this. Also with improvising tools. It's kind of our thing. (If we take this away, we'll be way worse but I would get it.)
The problem with that is that it's super hard to measure.
I could take on a horse in a jungle, I think, but not in the Eurasian Steppe.
It also depends on the age and character of the animal. I was able to grab a swan by its neck and throw it away because it was barely an adult. I bet it would have been a lot harder if it was a year older and even more aggressive.
(This was in self defence of course)
Another thing to consider is the premise.
Do I choose an animal and the animal is not aware of the danger?
Is it aggressive towards me in the normal range of its species?
Does the animal try to kill me with all of its power?
Exactly! In contrast to that, if I experience "it getting better" it's a totally different thing.
When a friend of mine needs help I try to be sensitive but it's still possible that I'll drop a "Don't worry, buddy, it will get better" myself.
It'll be honest, though.
Make up your mind about what you are looking for in a relationship.
You can save a lot of time on both sides.(At least be sure about the basics: relationship / hookup / poly or not)
Give everyone a second chance unless they hit absolute no-gos.
Everyone can have a bad day and say something they didn't mean etc.
Pick the places where you want to find new people.
Is your future date a library person, a skater or something else?
(That's more of a loose suggestion, please disregard if you don't feel like doing this)
Don't give up! (It might be heartbreaking at times but if you give yourself time to focus on other things in life you might feel refreshed and ready for going back into the dating scene, after a while.)
This pains me to write but: Be sure to let people know where you are when going on a date and make it a public place to feel safe. It's not that much about people actually doing funny things but more about feeling safe so you can focus on the date.
