  • Apropos nothing, qualified immunity is what prevents you and me from suing Trump or Musk for millions of dollars. Without it, they could be found personally liable for any damage they cause.

But qualified immunity is not guaranteed. It can be stripped if a judge finds an official knowingly broke the law. For example, after defying a court order.

Also, did you know that you can sue people in state court? And if you win and the defendant won't pay, the state AG can simply give you the title to their real estate?

Food for thought to people living in NY or California...

  • next election, go vote Democratic

Next election is not so far away. There will be two special elections in Florida this April, and then likely another in NY. Granted they are all in districts that lean Republican, but in theory Jeffries could become Speaker by the end of the year.

  • Nobody can see the future, not even you.

But the way things are going, I would bet that Democrats win the House and/or Senate in 2026 and have an excellent shot at the presidency in 2028.

In fact, last week a Democrat flipped a Trump +21 district in an Iowa special election. And that Democrat was a centrist.

  • I don't think requiring evidence is an "excuse". And so far there is little evidence that leftists can win statewide elections, which is a prerequisite for winning the presidency.

Conversely, if leftists start consistently winning elections then there is little that the party can do to stop them. That's basically how MAGA took over the GOP.

  • They should only change if a different approach were proven to work better.

Practically speaking, that means leftists need to consistently win gubernatorial elections before a leftist can become a presidential nominee.

  • One of those governors will likely be the next Democratic nominee. And they all have a history of running as centrists. Not just in 2024, but in all of their previous campaigns.

Newsom, Pritzker, Beshear, Shapiro, etc aren't going to spontaneously embrace socialism in 2028. And I'm sorry to disappoint you, but an 82 year old Bernie Sanders won't be running in 2028.

  • Harris lost in 2024 because Latino and Gen Z males who voted for Biden in 2020 swung to Trump in 2024.

Those voters are centrist/independents, and identify as neither Democrat nor Republican. They voted Democrat in 2020 and Democrats need to win them back in 2028.

  • No, what I mean is that Trump and Musk want to shrink the state, right now. In fact that is all they are doing, right now. Did you miss all the executive orders in the past week that are defunding every part of government?

So if that is your goal too, then you squarely belong inside the MAGA movement. You are diametrically opposed to Democrats, who if anything want to expand the state.

  • Lenin, Mao, and Pol Pot were most certainly leftists. We all know what happened after they took power.

You can extrapolate that after leftists take power, they degenerate into non-socialists who murder people. That's still a good reason to keep leftists away from power.

  • ever notice how often the complaint is "The government is hurting me, and I want it to stop..."?

    No, I haven't noticed that.

In fact, that sounds like something Ronald Reagan used to say:

“The nine most terrifying words in the English language are ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help.’”

Reagan wanted to shrink the state too. Maybe you really should direct your advice to the GOP.
