  • Keep an eye on the different ones. I got a sub to Proton Plus for like $3/mon at Thanksgiving time. Plenty of others out there have great deals every once in a while. I hadn't used a personal VPN for a while, but at this point I see no difference between my non-VPN speeds and speeds when connected.

Obviously you have to extend some trust to any VPN, but them being Swiss (nationally no obligation to provide logs to anyone, anywhere) and having a strict no-logs policy was attractive to me. Sure, they might be full of shit on those claims, but anyone else might be too.

  • I'm convinced that the DNC isn't worried about winning any more races than they have to do that they survive as a political entity. Just going off the push the minority leaders have been making and the stream of emails and phone calls I get, as someone registered independent.

I see and hear nothing about actual policy change or progressivism from the names in the critical positions, and a lot about donations to "help us win next time, guys, for real this time!"

My senators (both women, both dems), haven't actually responded to any of my calls, emails, or letters asking for their stances or plans for change. I have got several form responses that end with a call for donations, though. 🤷

  • Same comment to both of you guys so you both see it. I can't say it made me happy, but this thread did make me feel a little bit better. Thanks for being a decent human, even if just for these few comments.

  • I'm specifically barred from holding any public office, political or not until I exit the military. I have about a year left before I can launch any kind of campaign legally. Assuming we survive that long, I plan to. That all said I have no idea what I'm doing and would love to have the answers to the questions you pose here.

  • I know I'm late to stopping the damage that's already occurred, but I have plenty of hard disk space on my server. Anybody know where I can download a backup of these sites so we have another copy in the world? Even better, if I could mirror a backup from before the Fourth Reich moved in.

  • If only there were something we could have done to prevent this...

  • Somebody should convince Musk that they're not exploding and that they figured out a way to go to Mars really fast, but the system won't work unless he pilots.

  • I've got a (black) pair and really like them. I'm not sure what the comment below is talking about but I haven't installed any Anker apps and they work just fine for plug and play use.

I can't imagine someone whose deal breaking criteria is the color would care about audiophile-level controls on a pair of BT headphones.

  • The flatpak has all of the required dependencies included in the file and are sandboxed when you run the program. Typically installing the app via your package manager or storefront would rely on dependencies previously installed on your system or install them during the setup process, and running them on the system will draw those resources from wherever they're stored. This is why you'll find flatpaks are typically much larger than the footprint of a traditional program on Linux.

I can't say for sure but I'd venture a guess that the code for the emulator hasn't necessarily changed, so they haven't seen fit to iterate the version number in some time, but the flatpak was rebuilt to include the newer versions of dependencies that interface with your newer hardware. Just a guess though.

Have you tried the flatpak to see if it solves your issue?

  • A new guy wouldn't necessarily know the history of any distro, and a fair assumption to be made by them is to just jump in using the most recent version available, over something "two years old."

  • Yes, basically. But she did hold office as a dem for a term before she flipped. Though she was basically Joe Manchin in horn-rims and a skirt, at best.
