I’m not sure we’ll actually see too much in the way of serious politics, just my observation based on typical messaging we see most days. Of course if the daily is flooded with political bantering, then it may need to be moved to a specific thread for the topic.
Part of the benefit of the daily is that you never know what you’ll see tomorrow, and there could, and often is, something really interesting pop up as we have seen. Even if nearer the election it is politically biased, it might still be interesting.
Had that overnight heat thing the last time we visited the UK. 32C during the day then 31.75C at night!! Luckily it was for only for a few days, then back to 18C in mid-summer and needed a sweater!!
I know, it’s not like me at all; typically I remember every detail for everything recent. I was fine enough this morning to brew coffee, so all is good!!
What a start to the week. Woke up to very heavy rain and really strong winds. The rain has since stopped, and it’s now sunny, but still very windy.
Took a tumble last evening, somehow tripped and head butted the edge of an open inside door. Can’t remember where I did it, so I can’t shout at the guilty door, or the mat I must have tripped on. I guess accidents do happen. Got a sore head though.
If you have a Japanese supermarket/shop nearby, they’ll probably have some. It’s sold in packs of 4 from the freezer. Can’t get it where we are, and they can’t post it, so it’s DIY for me.
There typically are 2 types, the red pack and the green pack. The red pack is traditional, the green pack is a mix of natto and tofu.
Give it a try. Take it from the freezer, let it thaw for an hour or two, open the pack and stir in the mustard etc. In Japan it’s served on a small dish of rice.
It’s traditionally made from soybeans cultured with Bacillus Subtilis, a traditional culture. It comes out slimy with weird bacteria sticky strings threading between the beans. Traditional in Japan and revered for its health giving properties.
Traditionally eaten by stirring the beans and adding soy sauce and mustard to taste. I mix mine with homemade plain yoghurt, spices and hot sauces, then spread it on toast.
We got some spawn and put it in a mulch growing bed. Not sure we did it at the right time though, we did ours in late summer and despite attention, correct watering etc. have had nothing appear. We got ours from Sporeshift.
Hope you’re all good. Have had a horrid couple of days due to serious side effects from steroid medications I was recently prescribed. These things are supposed to help, not make me feel even worse!! Feeling so much better this morning having stopped taking them, though Doctor will tell me I’ve been a naughty boy!!
The issue is keeping all the invasive stuff controlled. Up here, plants, and weeds, grow very rapidly all year. It’s to some extent happened worse in the past 2-3 years. Our winters are now seemingly not as cold as they were some years back. Need to mow the grass very often now, even in winter, not like it used to be.
Just had another text, so 3 hours spraying or thereabouts.
I know, or at least we read, this shouldn’t cause any problems unless you are actually spraying the stuff. We have a tall shelter-belt that we refuse to have lowered, just in case.
I read previously that dogs shouldn’t be allowed in the orchard for 3 days after spraying Hi-Cane.
They spray very often, though it’s typically more benign stuff like copper and foliage feed.
It’s the Final Countdown
