  • Bike tools tend to be lighter weight than car tools, makes them easier to carry. Find a ring spanner that fits the wheels hub nuts, and one that can adjust the saddle, handlebars, etc. But the tyre levers and puncture kit are a must have in my book. Maybe learn how a puncture is repaired before you need to do it on the road.

  • I had a set of 3 tyre levers, plus a puncture repair kit with various size patches and glue. Used to ride on gravel tracks a lot, surprising the number of punctures I got. If we were going on a long trip, I’d carry a spare inner tube as well. If your wheel hub nuts are not quick release, carry spanners to suit as well. Of course you need a pump to re-inflate a repair.

  • Just mowed the grass and picked up a passenger in the process. It was a small green NZ Praying Mantis who I felt crawling around in the crook of my arm. Didn’t want to harm it, so left it there crawling around while I kept on mowing. Eventually it departed before I’d finished, but when I came indoors I discovered the little monkey had bitten me a number of times which was becoming sore. Didn’t feel it when I was working.

  • We’re cooking too. Recently started on a weekend free electric plan, that’s free from 9:00-17:00 on Sat & Sun. Baked lots to freeze ready for the week ahead, plus did all the weeks washing.

  • Mr Grinch here. Today’s been the sending of on-line cards to people who we met many years ago but with no subsequent connection. Why the f*ck am I bothering?. Mrs Floofah said, "we’d better stay in touch", me wtf! 🤬

  • Done some checking and Countdown does not change the item price at the time of delivery, the customers pays the price shown at the time of order. We’ve been using them online for a very long time pre-Covid and have never seen a price rise on a delivered item after placing an order.

  • I don’t believe Countdown does this. Have used them for years and never had that happen. We also buy a lot on "special", including wine and beer where a change like we saw would be obvious.

  • Just had a home delivery from New World. One of the items we ordered a week ago at a price of $12.99 was delivered at $19.99.

Called up their "help line" to be told that because we had added another item to the order midweek, the original price would have been updated to that days item price.

I bet if the price had gone down it wouldn’t have been changed!!

And they wonder why people hate the duopoly.
