  • Bot posts, upvotes, comments from 1d accounts quadruppled since I'm very sceptical about the projected stats. It's like the first human users setup a social culture and as time progresses new users see the potentials and become the first "parasites" of a settled community. A bot army is just a tool.

  • Black market whale oil, for medicine or whatever. I think whale hunting traditions is far outdated imo. But don't touch local traditions of whale killing or else you'll get a bottle at your head. Fishers are sometimes lowkey pirates.

  • Didn't read the book but I get the scenario after a hypothetical world changing disaster, it's going to be a ratrace for high ground. It's a false sense of security to believe hoarding cash or guns or vehicle would be your ticket out of it, it's called pride and hubris.

A motor/car can't swim. Weapons are a sign of hostility. Cash could be useless. Even having access to an escape satellite doesn't guarantee you'll be hit by space trash or cosmic plasma streams. The Road is a example how depressing the aftermath really is.

  • Lol I played TLD before the story mode was implemented, there was only open survival mode and starting points. The exploring and resource management is really fun, and wolves and cold snaps force you to move from barn to barn and sticking near car wrecks, getting a working hunting rifle was quite hard.

  • Showerthoughts @lemmy.world

What if there is an equal alien civilization also incapable of light speed travel but developed a telescope that could view planets like ours.
