  • I asked my work’s AI to just give me a comma separated list of string that I gave it, then it returned a list of strings with all the strings being “CREDIT_DEBIT_CARD_NUMBER”. The numbers were 12 digits, not 16. I asked 3 times to give me the raw numbers and had to say exactly “these are 12 digits long not 16. Stop obfuscating it” before it gave me the right things.

I’ve even had it be wrong about simple math. It’s just awful.

  • Waffle House is just wrong in their designation then. Over light is supposed to be slightly runny whites. Sunny side up is not flipping the egg so the white on top isn’t fully cooked. Over easy is supposed to have fully cooked whites and runny yolks. Over medium is jammy yolks that won’t quickly flow out if popped.

Waffle House just is saying over light = over easy and that’s not correct.

  • Exactly. I’m nowhere close to the top of the tech ladder, but I make more than that and still have to rent and will be renting for several more years. To buy an average house in this city, it would be like 7k/month without a 20% down payment. And household debt needs to be 30% of your total income so I would need to make $250k to even get approved for a loan for an average house in the city.

  • I don’t really have time for extensive puzzle games anymore, so I watch a YouTuber named Aliensrock. He’s still playing it, and I’m so invested! It’s insane that a puzzle rougelite can work so well and be so engaging with the story and mysteries. There are multiple ways to figure out each puzzle (except one so far), which is fascinating.

  • I actually use Coleman for work. It feels so much nicer to type on vs qwerty. It reduces same finger movement (like e & d on qwerty) and enables common synergies, like ie/ei, ne/en, sr/rs, ar, st/ts, etc. It was also easy to switch to vs other layouts like Dvorak because it keeps important hotkeys where they should be, like ctrl+a/q/z/x/c/v so you don’t accidentally close a program while trying to select all.

I still use QWERTY often for my home PC because I play games and type at the same time and don’t want to change every hot key for every game.

  • What about those online 2 hour coding challenges to qualify for an interview? Those aren’t hard problems, but mainly to weed out the unqualified. However, I failed my first 3 coding challenges across 2 years before I got an interview. It’s such a BS metric to make all the test cases pass before even considering them. I knew once I got the actual interview, I would be golden due to my experience, but it was still hell getting there.

  • I use https://www.copymethat.com/ and share an account with my wife. The app makes it easy for us to use while cooking and scraping recipes even works on mobile! You can add the ingredients to a shopping list, and it even organizes them by aisle/category!
