  • Honestly the past two iterations of Snoo before this logo were pretty good. Wish it wasn't attached to an awful website but, eh.

  • A friend of mine was talking about how they had blatant homophobia sent their way on an LGBT subreddit, which was upvoted. Went to check r/ApolloApp and someone critical of the dev (because he was selling merch) was being blatantly and casually homophobic with similar upvote behaviour.

I'm not an easily offended guy but, honestly, I'm glad I left that shithole.

  • This is how I learned Apple was even being investigated for this.

  • I was kinda worried with the LTT drama unfolding since DankPods does use Floatplane as a source of income. While Floatplane and LMG are technically separate, because it spun off of LTT people might not see it as such.

And yeah, I notice I watch YouTube a lot less now, ever since they stopped allowing people whose history was turned off to get recommendations on the front page. Maybe that's for the better. I still have a watch later backlog I should export to a text file or something.

  • If I recall, VR support in Linux is quite spotty as well. I can trust that Valve will invest some time into getting this to work, but a lot of the PC gaming market share is still Windows so it makes sense to support them first.

  • Used both (currently on AM but used Deezer thanks to a free trial).

They both have their exclusives and they might do something in relation to, say, a new album launch, but I've not had any blatant advertising on either of them. Apple's Podcast app on iOS is free, if they have an iPhone.

  • I use Apple Music, it fits my workflow better and I can supplement the streaming library with stuff I've got in my local library. Spotify technically allows that too but not as integrated as Apple Music.

For discovery, I don't use streaming algorithms as much, I've been using Rate Your Music for that. Got some great recommendations from its algorithms and its users. The site has been around since 2000 I believe, I'm convinced it will survive whatever the next phase of the internet will be.

  • Technically bi (though my tastes lean gay), I was put in Glasgow for listening to a lot of Steps and CHVRCHES... Given that Glasgow was on the running to host the Gay Olympics this year I guess it could be a close equivalent?

  • I would imagine synthetic meat would be strictly regulated anyway. According to the article OP linked, there's only two companies in the US that have been approved to make synthetic meat.

  • man I used to listen to them and Krewella a lot when I was 16-18 lol. I've still got a soft spot for that era of EDM.

  • I've got two, from Spotify and Apple Music.

Both have Steps as my favourite artist which mostly isn't surprising. The top song on the two differ, though - for Spotify it's Samo mi se spava by Serbian singer Luke Black, and Apple Music it's Twisted by Australian prog metal band Voyager. Both artists entered Eurovision 2023, though Twisted wasn't the entry.

Awaiting ListenBrainz's which'll be released in the new year, as that will have some of the most accurate data, as it includes things from my local library

  • Yup. But in any case, that reputation sticks. The point was, fix the major issues with the game then go do the press. NMS and Cyberpunk have both done that.

  • Seems like the opposite of what happened to No Man's Sky, initially praised at first then started getting complaints, whereas NMS was the opposite - a game that had major issues on launch (unhelped by overpromising) but built itself up to be a solid game afterwards.

Bethesda should take a page from Hello Games' book and fix the issues prevalent in the game then do the press stuff later. That also worked for Cyberpunk 2077, FWIW.

  • I used it at university. I don't think anyone there complained about it, and these people were not Linux users...

  • Welcome to the Linux community!

Seriously, though. Just use what you want (as long as it's working and supported, of course). Don't let anyone here pressure you.

  • should watch some of it again tbh, watched it as a kid and I loved Wander Over Yonder, one of McCracken's other shows.

  • My workflow is too married to MusicBee to do that lol, it's the reason I keep a Windows VM handy nowadays (okay, and Apple Music if I need to do some playlist things)

  • I always think about going back to Windows, but then I snap myself out of it seeing what Microsoft are doing. I still have a virtual machine for MusicBee (which... isn't the greatest in WINE, I'll just say that much) but everything else works fine. Also had a pretty good experience with Apple Music in Waydroid, with scrobbler support (Pano Scrobbler)

  • Will need to. The issue is that it happens at random and I haven't found the actual cause yet. I am using macOS for a project right now though, so that's kept me busy too.
