  • They're still multigenerational; Reddit captures lots of Gen Z members, and I've also seen people self-proclaimed as being in their 60s on here.

Regardless, the most important thing is to generate decent content. On my end, I've been doing what I like the most, which is making communities of topics that I think merit them, and trying to discuss anything as I like, despite any concern about a lack of response.

  • Okay, finally, this makes more sense; I think you mislabeled the post as "cause and effect" when you're really talking about ownership of property. Now this we could talk about endlessly, since it's been such a hot topic with AI's copyright-dodging.

A good ethical example I think of is Adobe InDesign (if I recall correctly), which only trains its "AI" models on content that is specifically AI-crawl-approved. I personally think the only other ethical approach to "AI" is open-source models like Meta's Llama. All others are thievery.

Another example of endless debate is publishing houses or boards of companies, particularly of AAA games, as in how much money middle and upper management and the C-Suite should get for the hard work done by the developers. It's been tearing apart the video game industry over the years on an exponential basis.

Generally speaking, though, for physical media like the artwork you describe, the workers get their dues, though probably disproportionately (especially when it comes to apparel made overseas, phones...). This stuff is very relevant in today's politics with the tariffs going on; while they're unpopular and could certainly be executed in better, alternative ways (like providing subsidies to make things at home instead), overseas workers in China, India, etc. are tremendously, objectively overdue on their wages.

given the option to claim ownership, to assert that narrative where I profit, even though that narrative isn't really relatively strong, I will.

So you don't care to help fight this mindset and right wrongs?

  • But you're the one positing a claim! The one making a claim is obliged to back it up, not the readers...

  • Right, so a personal vice: I could only imagine something on the level of porn or a similar addiction, like maybe /r/wallstreetbets-like content, but we still haven't heard back from @Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world for an example of exactly what s/he/they mean. I can't imagine what else it could be, but I also don't want to assume.

  • information in a way I'm uncomfortable with.

Huh, what's that? Maybe I did this so long ago that I don't remember before I started getting big into privacy.

  • I'm most likely gonna continue with Split Fiction, and try Aliens: Dark Descent and continue with Sea of Stars, now that I got a complimentary Game Pass subscription for a bit.

SF is still... mostly cinematic. The gameplay still feels generally basic, like a dash of Zelda-like puzzle. ::: spoiler However, if you appreciate incredible camera work and design, it continues to thrill with awesome interactions that ITT pioneered, such as the Parking Attendant; one player entering and the other coordinating with the havoc the interior player wreaks is just awesome. The flying-car sequences looked like they could have been straight out of a movie (both navigating across multiple ones and riding in one). ::: I have reservations about SF's too-corny/tropey dialogue, but hopefully it'll improve as we dig into Mio's past.

  • I tried but just could not figure out how to start CCDA and ended up deleting the game. Disappointing. Its tutorial/guidance is just so severely lacking.

  • I kinda feel like the game names are what should be exposed and the more detailed notes should be tucked into the spoiler, haha.

Anyway, try https://pixelfed.org/, a nonprofit, federated counter to Instagram!

  • I haven't found my communities yet and most of which are kinda inactive. Some having only a monthly post, others even none at all

Interestingly enough, I made a post in a community that hadn't had any posts in months, yet it racked up dozens of comments in just a day or two. People are generally more reactive than proactive, which is why content creators reign.

Obviously, you don't have to be a full-on influencer, but people may be more receptive than you think if you just make some posts from time to time—especially if they're open-ended questions.

  • Well, could you explain the "you can't bring yourself to" part? I sure don't get that.

  • Um, if you punch me, I'm gonna be in pain. That's a directly caused effect, so how is that "specious?"

But you seem to be talking about something money-related, so an example of what you mean would be very helpful.

  • But you're not even willing to provide an example of what you mean...

  • Why the hell are you getting so many downvotes on this?!?!

The question may be considered confusing, and it may also be considered annoying that OP gives no context or clarity that could shed some light on it. While I didn't downvote, I personally don't yet understand how to interpret the question, unless maybe it's about porn or some personal vice.

  • How is that related to post-hiding, though?

I personally just hide link posts of sports articles because I have no interest in the topic.

Are you talking about posts that you think you should hide for yourself when it comes to a personal temptation?

  • the quit button must clear cache and close all tabs, so I think it should be native and not an extension, but maybe I'm wrong?

This is the closest Firefox add-on that I could find: Essential Buttons Toolbar and Homepage

  • Ultimately, it's up to you! You don't have to let Feng shui govern your life; it's just one philosophy out of many.

  • Portal felt like a very long, pretty well-done tech demo, but Portal 2 is where it's at.
