  • Also just for the record. I think Kolanki deserved it for being an ass and playing the victim. You absolutely need to earn allyship, you can't just self-proclaim to be an Ally when you don't actually support queer people in any way.

    @moss@lemmy.blahaj.zone @moss@lemmy.world Yes I would've banned him if I were in Ada's position too.

  • No offense but that community has a horrible name, it is insanely ugly. Shame on Ada for letting this one rot because mods said so.

  • I don't, she shows she doesn't respect this community by her inaction, and letting them just name squat or worse, possibly wipe out this community and all the posts in it. And for what? Because they're sticking up for a transphobic asshole who was banned from the instance and recieved automatic community bans from 196 and other communities as a result.

    Honestly I expected better.

  • Agreed. It's what would be best for us. Not moving to another community with a horrendous name, but staying here while they are removed and move on to lemmy.world.

  • That's not powertripping, that's stepping in for the good of the community. This community would benefit to stay in !196@lemmy.blahaj.zone and if @ada@lemmy.blahaj.zone removes them and reappoints someone else who shares the same passion for this community that isn't powetripping, it's doing the right thing.

  • I think the mods here should be replaced. Let someone else who wants to do better take over here. Someone who has investment in blahaj.zone and cares about the community. Not someone who only has an alt here that they never log into.

  • Yeah lemmy.world is a horrible instance, they protect and unban trolls, transphobes, and even in one case, a person advocating for CSAM legalization WTF? This is a horrible decision and I'll never stand by them or support them. This destroys any amount of good faith I once had in the team here. I say they should be replaced and we continue here like nothing happened. blahaj.zone is an amazing instance and I for one appreciate them being as harsh on bigots and their apologists as humanly possible.

  • Why do we have to have to move to one with a shitty name, if there's enough support why couldn't @ada@lemmy.blahaj.zone give us control of this one. That is where all the people and action are already. Why should we have to further fragment.

  • I think we should just keep the original !196@lemmy.blahaj.zone and pass control of this one on to the mods of the other one. If the existing mod team wants to leave that's their choice but we shouldn't end up losing this great community just because they want to migrate. This is our community.

  • The difference is that Something like Retarded is used by someone else, someone who isn't like that person. It was a clinical term used by clinical people who would never know and could never know the feeling. That is to say it wasn't great to begin with. People who were "retarded" weren't embracing that for what they were, it was imposed upon them by medical professionals who don't really understand them as people (many were studying them like specimens). It was primed for derogatory use.

Neurodivergent on the other hand is a term embraced by the community, it's used as a self-identifier. It doesn't have the same oppressive connotations the others did. To turn it into a slur would be like turning transgender into a slur. It won't work because the group identifies as that, and will keep using it.

  • I always thought their support of Queer and Neurodivergence felt fake or forced, like they were just using us so they could talk more about antisemitism, or so they could seem more respectable. So it doesn't surprise me that they'd attack someone neurodivergent or queer if they think they could spin it as just another antisemite.

They don't actually care about us, they're just pretending to care so they can talk about what they want and seem like the good guys.

  • Ace colors are cute too.

  • I think the idea is they wear the cute pink ones underneath the pants and the boots. Outside is pants and combat boots, inside is the cute thigh highs.

  • That may be your opinion but there are people who do feel these labels are helpful and useful to them.

  • I think I need to remind people of this post and that this community doesn't support gatekeeping and transphobia, including of the "Just asking questions variety".

  • I personally find them to be very comfortable, and they do look awesome. Though not everyone might agree, different strokes for different folks.

  • Yeah the overlap from some of these labels can be a bit weird. In my opinion these don't replace terms for gender identities, they are complementary to them. For example I am Isogender-Agender or Agender-Isogender. SImilar to how someone would say they are Trans-Nonbinary. You have a more broad label, paired with a more sharp, precise label.

  • Just looked up Ultragender and it's a thing.

    Here's the flag:

  • Your argument is reminiscent of the trans people who claim that non-op trans women being proud of who they are is invalidating to them because they have genital dysphoria. That they believe non-ops are hurting the community.

Demisexual people and graysexual people are not hurting the Ace community. I can understand your feelings as a more sex-repulsed person myself but that's not a valid excuse to invalidate their experiences or say they are hurting the community. That stance is extremely bigoted, and goes against everything we value as a community.
