  • Huh? I am saying that Windows is now collecting a ton of user data. If they feel that giving that up isn't important then by all means go back to windows. But your data has a value to it, you just have no idea what it is, or even what is collected at this point.

  • Exactly. The two groups I have joined have all had a core set of people that have played together for years, or are possibly related from what I can tell. I think the most important thing is the commitment, and being consistent. I have a Thursday evening game, and a Sunday evening game now, and I make sure and show up for each. All my family and friends know my gaming nights and that if they call or text me it's going to have to wait. There are cancellations for various reasons, but that's just normal. Everyone has lives and family that might take priority, but what I am talking about is just chit chat. Point is, in my opinion, the key is being available and ready to play on a consistent basis. We have had a lot of churn in one group, but it's mainly some extra people who want to play and then decide it isn't for them I guess, or don't like our gameplay style, or who knows. But the core group of people, which I think I am now part of, are still playing consistently. I say take the plunge and at least get some experience out of it. Change groups if you need, but put some time into playing and it will be worth it in the long run.

  • I use Fantasy Grounds, and they have a forum and discord with sections for players looking for gm, and reverse. I put a comment in the discord that I was looking for a game to play and within a couple of days had two offers that fit my schedule and have been playing in both games for over a year now. One game we even switched from a couple of Vaesen games to Pathfinder, and once that's done, who knows where we go. The other game is old school DnD, and it has been quite the adventure.

  • I do remember a small point in time where you could set your browser to not open videos. Now thanks to javascript, every fucking page has about 10 advertisement videos going on them. What the web has turned into is absolute shit because of advertising.

  • Well an EV conversion would be the only way to get one of those out of its own way. There's a reason OJ's bronco chase was so slow... My ex insisted we get a mid 80's bronco, and it was so bad. I think it averaged about 6mpg and good god it was laughably anemic. If it was me, I would look for a early 70's or late 70's bronco. Totally different styles for each, but still better than the mid 80's anything.

  • You are fighting a losing battle and are damned if you do and damned if you don't. I am willing to bet the people complaining about things being changed wouldn't have even noticed if you hadn't pointed it out. LOL.

  • So the link didn't work for me either, but when I went back to spacex.com and clicked on Learn more, and then on the video they have, it started playing. I right clicked and clicked on Copy video address, and got the exact same link I posted. Not sure what's going on other than they might be blocking it if you don't click to it from their website.

  • I right clicked on the video and copied the video link using firefox. I then used yt-dlp to download it. And yes, that was some amazing video today. Really makes you think about how things will be way in the future and if they will look back on this and chuckle about how we thought this was so amazing.

  • Do you have any personal experience with piped tar commands that back slashed and put your system at risk?

No, I do not. I never even thought of piping output to a tar command, and I have been using tar so long that I have run the command on an actual tape archive. I use the -T option quite a bit, but I always test the input file before ever running the command. If I don't generate the list of files and use -T, then I just let tar do the file selection.

  • No problem. Again, I wouldn't feed tar output from a find command when you are getting all files and folders (-type d,f). Just let tar go grab everything on it's own. If you need to feed it a list of files, use find to export the list, and then check it before you let tar run on that output. Just my two cents.
