  • I know it's not.

But when Greta shows up, it's all about her and not the protest anymore.

  • I agree. It's just one of those things that starts things off badly.

And MS has been pushing a bit for it, like EGS.

Also I'm painfully aware of the age of the OG Wasteland as I grew up with it. I was thinking more in the line of the crowdfunded ones, 2 & 3. InXile seemed well on track with 'em.

  • I’m more upset about Obsidian and InXile.

I'm with you on that one.

Obsidian and InXile had just started getting some new promising franchises up and running (Wasteland & Outer Worlds). It'd be a shame if they went 'Storefront Exclusive' already.

The last minute EGS timed-exclusive deal already screwed with the first TOW game's launch.

The concept of Storefront Exclusivity just shouldn't be a thing at all.

  • oof

    Jump
  • It's 1999 and I'm standing in a music store listening to a few new albums I might buy, while talking with the other audio nerds about upcoming releases and musicians I haven't even heard of before.

I kinda miss it. Like Libraries, but I get to buy and keep whatever I enjoy.

  • For platformers it's controllers. Type varies from game to game.

For almost everything else, Keyboard & Mouse.

And lastly, the Joystick for those very singular free-flight games i might posses.

  • Seeing as 'Storefront Exclusivity' on pc games was a part of EGS's plan, they can keep their free games.

Plus, I remember an indie dev talking about how they tried to strong-arm him into going exclusive to them with ultimatums.

"You're either only on EGS or you're not it at all." That kinda shit.

  • It's possible they might bundle up all the expansions and make the entire thing "free" with gamepass. They're all bought and payed for as it is.

It'd make it seem attractive and it costs MS $0. And they get to keep the monetization model that's already in place.

Having their cake and eating it too.

The only ones eating the check, so to speak, would be everyone that already purchased all the dlc.

It seems like a appropriate mega-corp thing to do.

  • At least they have the courtesy to write it into law.

  • I am uncertain as to the cost/benefit projections for doing that.

Yes, they get to bump subscriptions a bit. But the game would effectively go f2p in the process. And anyone that already pays for both, will not add to any numbers.

I don't know the current player count for WoW. Only MS can estimate as to it's potential benefit.

My money is on them just migrating everything to their storefronts to begin with and then waiting to see what effect it'll have.

  • I doubt it.

WoW is too old and there's more profit in keeping the subscriptions separate. You might get a couple more expansions though. Whatever is in the works currently.

More likely they'll be trying to bank on D4 and Overwatch to start with. Then, maybe, move on to something else.

Either way they'll try to milk whatever newest franchises are out for as much as they can before doing anything. But current WoW isn't likely to be a flagship for anything.

  • Activision has a ton of old unused IP's under their name. Could be a treasure trove if handled correctly.

But have no doubt, Blizzard is part of the prize. It's just a matter if MS can turn the current "climate" around somehow.

  • I'm just pointing out the most likely explanation.

But I have no doubt he's more concerned with own people and that if he wants to keep receiving aid for the war in Ukraine he has to "play ball."

It's a shitty situation to be in.

However I don't think he's going to divert any resources to Israel anytime soon, regardless of the sincerity of his statement. So at least there's that.

  • It's politics. Newfound Allies have expectations. I highly doubt Zelenskyj really wants to get involved with Israels ever ongoing conflict at this point in time.

  • Denmark checking in. Got it as well this morning

  • Probably because giving away free games didn't end up selling more of the other games on the storefront.

  • I think most of what I'd like has already been made. But they are old, few and far between.

I'd really like a modern Freespace game.

I enjoyed how it made your keyboard into a functional cockpit and how you could customize your own and your squads fighters and loadout. And sending tactical info in the thick of battle.

All that junk. It was great. But the old games are showing their age.

  • Everything being in a simulation killed it for me, though.

The visually glitching-out NPCs ruined the fun of being a completely unhinged maniac with/without superpowers. Which is kinda what the games are about.

And the constant black skybox became depressing fast.

SR3 does it better, imo. It constantly rides the edge of "How much is movie set? And how much is not?"

  • That's both a yes and no. Veggies are good. Overindulgence is not.

Carrots are quite heavy on sugar. Most "root fruits" are.

It's a typical problem people run into when trying to loose weight via dieting.

Edit: Three carrots a day shouldn't be a problem though.

  • I've been lead to believe that Disneys legal department is feared even among other giant corporations.

They've been doing shady business for a long time and don't fuck around, I guess.
