  • It is a bit destabilizing when you find yourself included in one of the many broad groups that he wants to jail, or that he hopes burn in hell, etc. Then you see his sycophants cheering these statements and realize how unsafe you are among your neighbors.

  • I don't like Musk, but it is disappointing that people that may have intended to make a purchase decision for at least modestly environmentally conscious considerations are getting trash instead of what was advertised. Hopefully they get refunds that they can put towards a Rivian or Ford Lightning.

  • To a large extent I agree, but i think anti slander laws are a generally accepted precedent that limit what people can say to or about another person. It's possible that the new law follows similar logic, and is intended to prevent harm in much the same way.

  • The people had the opportunity to choose during the primary whether they wanted to vote for someone else who holds mostly similar views (e.g. the same political party) to their own, or the person currently doing the job. There weren't a lot of people from the same political party that offered themselves up as challengers to the person currently doing the job, for a variety of reasons. Our system heavily favors the person currently doing the job in our primary elections, but challenges have been made before, just not this time.

  • That used to bother me a bit too, but then i figured if he's strong enough to do a sweet one arm pull-up while carrying Tifa in the other to pull them back into the Highwind when she nearly falls out, then he's probably strong enough to dolphin kick holding himself halfway out of the water looking completely motionless.

  • I came looking for this. It seemed like this movie came out at that time when adults assumed all animated movies (or cartoons as I was told) are for kids, and so this was shown in our after-school group. There were several kids crying by the end of it, and I may have been one of them.

  • I definitely appreciate the cheats around paywalls and mostly avoid pay walled sites myself, but I do occasionally hope that there are enough patrons of the people reporting the news to ensure that we're not just seeing the stories that one or two rich-ass benefactors (exagerated of course) are paying to see on their platforms.

  • There are states in the US where this might be reversed, e.g. they have no sales tax, but higher income tax (Oregon). I'm not suggesting that moving to any of those states would be feasible for most of us, but the tax burden may work a bit different for parents there.

  • The comment seems more intended to push voters away from Biden and toward an RFK option than convincing anyone to vote for Trump. It's stupid and easy to attack back, but we also need to be careful about what the strategy is.

  • Possible unpopular take, but suddenly cutting off support for Israel may be evaluated as the path that results in far more blood. Because of Bibi's absolute shit response, there's a good possibility that many groups in the region (Hezbolah, Iran, etc.) are standing quite ready to exterminate Israel and all of its roughly 9.3 million residents (2021 numbers). While the US cutting off support may be a short term solution that a lot of people could agree with, Bibi has made clear that he is willing to play chicken with the entire population of Israel, and so if the aid stops and the possible invasion from the regional players starts up, then the US has to decide whether to let a "former" ally get exterminated, or get involved at that point when many more actors could be involved in the conflict.
