  • For reals. I'm mid-30s and I only remember hearing about this when I was younger. I'd completely forgotten about it, and never would have asked for or suggested it happen.

Good job bringing it back to the forefront so misogynistic men can know of it and use it to torment a fresh, new generation of women.

If your partner jokes about having surgery done to you without your consent, just leave them--whether you're a man or a woman.

  • Not an expert, but an enthusiast. The universe can typically be considered homogeneous and isotropic on a large scale (it looks the same in all areas, and also looks similar no matter which direction you happen to be looking) for the sake of understanding and performing physical calculations. The beach may also be considered homogeneous and isototropic, but we know that if we dig down, we'll find interesting materials, organisms, and even various grades of sand (for context).

The universe is roughly symmetrical even though there are structures and features of great complexity when you look close enough (such as atoms, you, me, horses, and icebergs). This is probably because the universe originated from a single infinitely dense point where there wasn't room for much diversity or clumping of matter. As the universe expanded, random quantum fluctuations and coalescence, perhaps due to gravity and the various electrical and atomic forces, is to thank for the formation of elements, stars, and galaxies, over the last 14 billion years (or however old the Universe is supposed to be).

Anyways. It's represented as symmetrical because it's convenient and true on a large scale, but its always more complicated the deeper you look.

  • Well, I just saw a news article today about how Trump was immediately going to kick every trans person out of the military. Also been seeing articles for years now about Republicans trying to ban sexual realignment surgery even for adults. So what more proof do we need that there's a problem?

  • No matter how you slice it, it simply ends in America's living with a "lowered" quality of life. The reason we buy things from overseas is because it was cheaper and nobody wanted to pay for the expensive American version. Even the current high-end American products we have will find themselves struggling when people have to pick and choose what they can afford going forward.

I'm also a little indifferent about the whole thing. I just think its going to be hilarious if it goes down and people end up struggling even more after voting Trump. I'll have my schadenfreude-popcorn ready constantly to munch on over the next four years.

  • Everything is on a scale. The pollution control equipment only trades air pollution for increased throughout in landfills, increased industrial emissions to the air, water, and land by necessitating more frequent replacements, as well as more funds in the pockets of capitalists. Pick your poison because you're never going to come away squeaky clean.
