  • I'm actually doing the same. I'm going to really consider, to the best of my ability, and with the best information available, the political background of the things I spend my money on. If I -need- a semi-frivolous thing, I'll buy from a blue state or used on eBay. No hiring of the trades for me; if I can't do it myself, I probably don't need it that bad (I live in a red state). No Amazon, Facebook, and especially no Tesla (not that I was ever interested in the first place). I will try to support artists and other people who have a politically agreeable mission, however.

What's the worst that can happen? I end up with a giant pile of money I would have blown? I'm fine with that.

  • Yeah, I thought this was the reason they were so hesitant to give the death penalty. If you know you're going to get the death penalty, then why stop? What are they going to do--kill you twice? Lol

  • We are in a global economy. If the medicine is produced by the same company, there is some connection there. I'm not saying its 1-1 correlated, but it is unlikely the prices are completely independent. Companies are constantly adjusting the prices of their services from location to location, and all the money ends up in the same pot at the end of the day.

  • Yeah, I didn't see anybody else enforcing that law or making sure these people were taken care of. Biden administration stepped in and made them follow the law, which would never have happened otherwise. This is the best he could do after his main plan was shot down by Republicans and the Supreme Court.

The President isn't all-powerful in America and only has so much reach--and that's a good thing when somebody like Trump comes in and wants to be the next dictator.

  • I used to love ordering pizza for delivery, and I'd give like 5-10 bucks as a tip which might be 30 or 50% just depending. But now nobody does their own delivery anymore, I pay extra for the food because they're outsourcing to Door Dash, and it takes two hours to get a pizza.

Delivery is dead as far as I can tell. All that's left is going through the fast food drive-through which is like 12-15 bucks nowadays. I'd rather just eat at home.

The only time I go out nowadays is when I'm with a friend.

  • Smart. So many downvotes for expressing an opinion that is basically just "maybe don't accuse all men of shitty, sexist behavior?"

And then the responses that are basically "this form of prejudice is okay because of reason x, y, and z" or "i know weren't talking about me so its okay".

    Nice.

  • Seeing as how it says "guys", you're just choosing to ignore the plain-face meaning in favor of your own interpretation. If you reverse the gender roles, everyone would be going wild about it being anti-women. Choosing not to act is the same as choosing to enable sexist behavior, whether you like it or not.

  • I will not "be mad at the other men who helped create this scenario" because I am not responsible for their actions, and I have no idea who they are. How about you stop being sexist and spend the effort it takes to be angry at the specific niche subgroup of people who pissed you off?

  • It's annoying to have never called a woman emotional, and then to be called emotional in response to something I've never done.

Its almost like whoever made this meme is doing the exact same thing they're complaining about--hilarious.

  • I think the difference is that blacksmiths created things that were tangibly useful, that people needed, and that they needed in large quantities quickly and cheaply. The whole point of art is that it does not have real-world usefulness, past the enjoyment of it for the sake of the enjoyment of it.

For example, people frequently refer to cars as "art", because they are beautiful, but "beauty" isn't necessarily the same as "art". Cars are beautiful because they invoke the principles of art, whatever they may be. The base principles themselves are complex and intangible, and you'd be hard-presses to find a book that explained what art actually is, because it is not well defined.

Only people can do art, as far as we know. AI can only produce things that resemble art, and they have only been able to do so by copying what real people have done. If real artists stop outputting material, there will never be an original artistic expression created ever again.

AI may be able to generate clip art and pretty text, but nobody is going to flock to the theaters, or attend auctions to acquire what is basically clip art.

This is not at all like creating a metal blade, imo. The tech bros just don't understand art.

  • Yeah, this is basically how it goes. Telegram is set by default to allow anybody to add you to chats. You can disable that, or set it so only Contacts can add you. Anyways, how it usually goes is some nefarious party, or a bot, will make their way into a legit chat room and then start adding all the members to their crypto chats, or whatever. Thankfully, I only ever was added to crypto scam chats at random before I fixed my privacy settings.
