  • Wait until you get older and one day you'll realize the kids are looking at you funny when you talk. Then you'll realize you naturally talk "oldtimey" and your youth is gone.

Enjoy not being an old fart while you can and don't wish to become one ahead of time. Trust me on that one, it's not groovy.

  • At the end of the day, it's the Heritage Foundation. They're the ones pulling the strings of all those retarded MAGA puppets.

  • I'm not so sure, see. And the reason is: if people who are traditionally willing to accept low wages don't apply for jobs at Amazon fulfillment centers for fear of being kidnapped by the GestapoICE, then Bezos will have to start attracting people who aren't quite content with minimum wage.

Not to mention, if Bezos' slave wage shops start being known as ICE hunting grounds, even the latter might want to give working there a pass altogether.

  • On the plus side - if there ever was a plus side to anything Trump does - this might drive up wages for the remaining employees, and/or to attract fresh new recruits to fill up the missing roles.

  • the worst parts was when he had an itch,

Yeah. I don't struggle with the pain so much: I have it, but it's mostly like electric shocks, and somehow it feels like a TENS machine. So as long as it's not too intense or too long, I'm okay.

But I really struggle with itching.

I just lumped itching with phantom pain because it's easier to explain to people who don't know.

  • have you petitioned your government to sanction the US?

I've done better than that: my business has stopped selling to Americans. It's a big financial hit and our US customers are pissed, but when Americans don't buy from us, they don't send tariff money into the Nazi coffers.

  • Amputation pain is right up there, followed closely in the long term by phantom pain.
    Then nausea.
    Then tinnitus.

A large part of why they're the worst for me is that you can't do anything about them.

  • not every American is part of the problem,

While I understand that a lot of individual Americans are indeed the unfortunate victims of Trump, my point is that, as a nation, it's too easy to distance yourself from the outcome of the election. You may be a hard-core Democrat, a real traditional Republican - or indeed anything other than a MAGA Nazi, but if you're American, you own Trump. It's your mistake. It's too easy to profess democracy and free elections, and then complain that you didn't want that. You did want that. And you got it.

What I'm saying is, while I feel for you as an individual human being who seem nice and reasonable, I lump you with the problem and I fully blame you for it as an American.

the ethical implications of your own actions?

You elected Trump and I should consider the ethical implications of my actions? That's rich!

Get rid of your Nazi problem and then we'll talk. As long as Trump or any of his Nazi underbosses are in power, I have zero respect for Americans.

  • Expect TACO to chicken out soon on this one.

  • I wish the immature numbskulls who vote for fascist convicted felons weren't allowed to vote in the first place, because they're clearly not mentally competent to do so. But of course, this is not how democracy works: democracy implies that everybody has an equal say in how their country is run, however dumb they are.

All the same, ask trans people, not-quite-white-enough Salvadorian concentration camp deportees, dying children in Africa because USAID let them down and federal workers who are out of a job what they think of the American democracy...

And quite frankly, I don't give a shit what good upstanding citizens like you think they should do next: it's too late. The US is too far down the path. I'm personally of the opinion that there won't be elections in 2026: Trump and his henchmen will deploy their SS goons - aka ICE - in blue states for one pretext or other and cancel the election results there.

The right way to deal with this was not electing a fucking fascist into office. But the American people - not you Mr. nice guy, but you as a nation - decided to be utter morons instead

And now you feel all cross because I call you out on it? Well how cute. Cry me a fucking river.

  • Considering the trash Americans vote for when they vote and the misery that ensues, the world would be a better place if they didn't.

Feel offended all you want, ask any foreigner and that's what they'll tell you. The rest the world is fed up to the back teeth with the US.

  • Why doesn't anybody ever point out that it's unconstitutional?

Doesn't anyone bother to correct Trump anymore? I know it's tiresome when the guy told 30,573 verfied lies during his first term. That's 21 lies per day on average that all need to be debunked, and that's a lot of work. But that's not a reason to let him run with any old bullshit.

Trump can't strip anybody of their citizenship, anymore than foreign countries pay for his stupid tariffs. Rosie O'Donnell is quite safe.

  • It's only a debate in the US, where obscurantism and magical thinking are rife. Most other developed countries have moved on and done a pretty thorough job of purging religious nonsense out of the curriculums, or at least contain the nonsense to keep it out of young minds who deserve better.

  • Small instances probably aren't for you

    I'm sorry but... no.

Look, I'm a child of the 70's, I know what shite internet feels like and I'm a patient man. Hell, half of the reason why I stick to SDF is exactly because I'm patient (the other half being because SDF defederates almost no other instances and I appreciate that).

But I'm running a BBS with 32 lines and quite a few users (yes, old-stylee, with modems) and also a few Echolink repeaters for hams, and I provide better service and better uptime than SDF most of the time. And it's just me, myself and I with little time to spare after work.

I'm glad you're satisfied with SDF. My bar is a bit higher than yours apparently, yet goodness knows I'm not demanding...

  • The millionaires I'm talking about are the millionaires from the eighties who partied with Epstein and all knew who he was and what he was doing. Hell, his fucking private jet was nicknamed the Lolita Express...

A million in the eighties was a lot of money. It got you 4k of snow tops.

  • Yeah, I really feel for those poor innocent millionaires who associated with a known pedo totally in good faith.

  • I made a donation once, with the idea of making one every year, because I believe in paying for the things I use, and particularly small-time, old-style services like SDF.

But the plain and sad reality is, most of the things I DON'T pay for work much better than SDF services.

So yes, it truly was money poorly spent. It wasn't much money and it didn't make a dent in my quality of life in any way, but that's just what it was - money poorly spent.

My one donation will remain a single donation until SDF services improve to the point when I can convince myself that the occasional slowness and downtime are reasonable for a small gig like SDF. Sadly, it's not even up to that standard, and has never been in the 2 years since I've joined: it's more slowness and downtime than it is working normally.
