  • It's not that I completely disliked the humor. Some of it was great, some would be fine in smaller doses and some was just tolerable - all in all I did have fun with the writing for the most part. My point was more towards "general public", since I've seen people play the game get turned off after seeing the disciples being characterized only by their fetishes for like ten minutes straight.

I forgot to mention it in my OP but I do think the transition from early silliness and stupid jokes to more serious tone of the end game is a good way to sell how bad things get.

These disclaimers/warnings were primarily aimed towards someone who'll most likely play in English since that seems to be the majority of people here and I can guarantee some of them will get filtered out by the writing in those early parts.

  • Ending E of the first Drakengard leads to Nier Gestalt/Replicant. I don't think any of the other ones are directly related (though ending A of Drakengard 3 technically leads to the first game, so there's that connection). There's also a side character from D3 that's briefly mentioned in Nier Automata and shows up in one of the stage plays, I believe.

As for trying out the series... It's rough. Both gameplay and technical aspects can be a bit tedious to go through compared to its sister series. At the same time, story wise Drakengard games go wilder and weirder than what you'll see in either Nier (in a good way).

It's definitely a series worth experiencing, just not necessarily by forcing yourself to play through them. Don't feel bad about switching to an LP if things get too rough.

  • From FAQ on the Stop Killing Games page.

Q: How are publishers 'destroying' videogames?

A: An increasing number of videogames are designed to rely on a server the publisher controls in order for the game to function. This acts as a lifeline to the game. When the publisher decides to turn this off, it is essentially cutting off life support to the game, making it completely inoperable to all customers. Companies that do this often intentionally prevent people from 'repairing' the game also by withholding vital components. When this happens, the game is 'destroyed', as no one can ever operate it again.

  • I'm tend to jump between multiple games, depending on how I feel at the time.

Right now the main titles are: Cities Skylines, DMC5 and Pokemon Crystal. Secondary ones: Tetris DX and Puzzle Quest.

Finally there's Reverse Collapse but that's a new title so doesn't really fit this community.

  • That's exactly why I posted this! There are so many open source and decompilation projects it's impossible to know about all of them.

  • If you need other alternatives in the future Awesome Privacy repo has a pretty good list on various categories.

  • But WHAT is an alternative to that?

Cryptpad has forms. There's also Framaforms though I can't say how well it works or whether it would suit your needs.

  • I see people are quick to lash out for a place called "No Stupid Questions"... I don't know if OP is trolling or not but I can kind of understand where they're coming from (or at least I think I do).

I grew up at a place and time where any info about LGBT+ was nonexistent, let alone having a chance of interacting with someone open about being part of that community. If your environment/life consist of a homogenized culture and view of the world, seeing tons of people "suddenly becoming trans" can be quite a shock. People don't deal well with shock.

Hell, it has been years since I got out of my bubble and become aware of LGBT+ and I still had a bit of a shock (not a bad one, just in "surprise!" kind of way) when a content creator I've watched from time to time came out as trans.

I don't necessarily think this question was asked in a bad faith but rather from position of ignorance - ignorance that could and should be dealt with in a productive manner. Throwing around accusations won't help anyone and if OP is really trying to understand the situation, blowing up on them can lead to a negative outcome instead. Come on people, let's do better.

As for the question: @Tywele@lemmy.dbzer0.com is right - it's not "people turning trans", it's "people not hiding anymore". World isn't the same as it was a decade ago and as society becomes more accepting, people are less likely to hide their sexuality, identity etc.

Regret is always a possibility, whatever the choice. Is it likely? Statistically speaking, I don't think so (though I can't find the research I've seen about this topic at the moment). You have to keep in mind that transition is not a simple or fast process and people don't do it on a whim.

On the other hand, this might lead to serious improvements in both mental health and general qualityof life as people don't have to deal with a body and "self" they don't feel comfortable with.

I'm no expert on this topic but I hope this helps at least a little bit.

  • If by "still paying" you mean trying to change something about the industry using closure of a decade old game then sure, you could say that.

If you don't care about this campaign, he still does videos about older titles - they release every 2-3 months, with the latest one being this video about "State of Mind".

  • Here's the campaign website with links and instructions for each region.

  • Finished Drakengard 3 last week and switched to Pokemon Crystal for some more casual fun. Besides that I also hop between Puzzle Quest and Tetris DX if I'm short on time.

    He just wanted a hug...

Good find with the fanbox, seems like he's posting early drafts of the chapters for dirty cheap.

  • Hmm, I guess I can see it that. While ghost battles never become the main focus, thankfully, there are a few more action heavy chapters later on as well, which would probably be just as annoying for you as this one. Not many of them, sure, but that's a perfectly valid reason to drop it - there's no reason to suffer through something you don't enjoy.

  • People are willing to deal with a lot of thing before it gets to a breaking point - whether it's a social media platform or anything else in life. Change is scary and many users keep their accounts to follow specific artists/series/topics who may or may not have easily findable alternatives to switch to.

Add the fact that majority of casual users doesn't know about other similar platforms or (in case of fediverse) finds them confusing and suddenly they have more incentive to just put up with the problems as long as they can. More so since such change requires rebuilding of communities and relationships.

Finally, there's laziness - most people just can't be bothered to change things in their life unless they have no other choice/choice was made for them (ex. service they used died).

Why do you think so many refused to leave reddit after the whole boycott drama? It sucks but that's how humans are. There's only so much we can care about and social media aren't exactly high on the totem pole.

  • What was the last chapter you've read? I'm curious what made it shonen-like.

  • Hard yay. Early teething problems are quickly fixed as series found its footing, Miko('s suffering) is great and other characters have always more to them than their first appearance would suggest.

Monster designs are always on point and can be used in an extremely effective way. It's a fantastic horror comedy.

  • Just finished Drakengard 3 and feeling empty - both because the final boss fight took me 4 days to beat and because, despite many issues I have with the game, ending still managed to hit pretty hard. I love this shitty game.

  • Which is funny because he's fully aware Linux players would be happy without any support beyond "enable EAC to work for us" but he'd rather try to spin it as a difficult decision he really doesn't want to make. Just enable it Tim, I'm sure Valve devs would put in the work to make Fortnite work well on the Deck.

  • I can see how my initial reply could be read as a random rant by a Valve fanboy since, well, these people exist. I do hope I'm wrong and this turns into another major player pushing Linux to the forefront as well. Time will tell.
