Society has collectively decided that people dying from automobiles is a price it's willing to pay. I'm rather resentful of our car-centric infrastructure, but here we are.

Given the general demographics of Reddit, it would just be a bunch of bots left if they did this.

I don't use it for discussion, but for some information/support it is helpful to have a larger community to discuss with. I stay the fuck away from anything that has a hint of controversy though.

Moved here and haven't looked back.

I do keep a Reddit account that is strictly used for informational/support type stuff (i.e. "help me figure out what type of widget I should buy for this task"). I avoid anything controversial on that account.

This is one of those platitudes that is too vague to be of any real value.

GPS app that gave more control over routing. You can use waypoints, but the ETA is based on the waypoint instead of destination, and you have to manually continue navigation once you reach the waypoint.

The intent is too present snippets of information over a period of time and allow them to connect the dots.

My theory here is that people have to want to make a change. This is similar to how you can't make a smoker stop smoking, they have to want it. Trying to needle someone into changing will often just cause them to clam up.

I'm vegan and don't tell people to stop eating meat, because that often elicits a hostile reaction. I instead present reasons why they shouldn't eat meat and allow them to reach a conclusion. And yes, I do this with the understanding that most people will never make the change. But if the presented information doesn't get them to change, then I doubt anything I say will either. I'm not exactly known for my charisma, charm, or my debate skills. Devolving into an argument isn't what I'm trying to achieve.

And if you haven't seen videos of flash flood events, many people don't understand how quickly these can become an imminent threat. We can be talking about a matter of just a few minutes.

I tend to just present information, but without trying to argue a point. Just a "here's the information" and see what they do with it. Then I go from there.

As an example: luxuries have gotten cheaper while essentials have gotten more expensive.
