  • I recently watched the following program on PBS: Nazi Town, USA which described the rise of fascism in America at the same time as the Nazis in Germany. It was an eye opening experience and one that has a hauntingly similar essence to our current situation in the USA.

  • I started a facebook account in 2006 and stopped using it a few years later. I still have an account but only look at it maybe 2 or 3 times a year.

    I hate when I have to log in to find a business though. It 's infuriating.

    And I hate reddit with the glare of a thousand suns.

  • Yes! My ex and I used to build all kinds of computers back then. Of course they used to blow up rather quickly. It was a slog trying to figure out where I left off once I got up and running again. Shopping - I bought all kinds of stuff on the internet back then lol. Enough said.

  • I met so many interesting people that way. And I loved the creativity of their blogs. It's gone like the corner candy store (which I actually remember).

  • There are still some forums around but they are usually very niche. I frequent a few especially when I get banned from Reddit lol.

  • Crazy times indeed. My cousin brought home an Egyptian guy she met on the internet in the early 2000s. Turned out to be just fine but it seemed sketchy at the time.

  • Yes I miss the forums I used to visit. I was a moderator on a couple and it was a bit of a slog but still enjoyable. I started using the internet in 1996/97 and watched it evolve all these long years. It's definitely morphed into a corporate wasteland.
