I usually have both places open in different tabs and flick between the two throughout the day because, as you say, it's a lot quieter here than the old DT used to be. It's quieter there too now as well. I miss some of the old regs.
It's a difficult situation, been there myself. There's always at least one loudmouth bigot in any job. Calling them out is not always possible, especially when they're your boss. His comment about "rich abos...bludging off the dole" makes no sense. Nobody gets rich off the dole.
I'm on day 3 of starting my meds and I feel like the loss of appetite is real. Like, I used to forget to eat at regular times because of the ADHD, now I'm not eating that much because of the ADHD meds. I could barely finish half of my dinner last night and as of 1pm today I've had half a banana.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm on day two of 40mg Vyvanse, taken on an empty stomach at 10am both days. Can't say I've noticed a distinct change yet but in hindsight I think I did get quite a bit done yesterday instead of procrastinating online!
Thank you! Cheers for sharing your experience and tips. I dropped a 40mg Vyvanse around 10am, had no idea what to expect. Nothing really happened, but I reckon I was more focused on the backlog of work emails as the day went on. All done :)
I start my ADHD meds today. Could be a game-changer. I'm nervously excited. If anyone has any experience or insights that they would be willing to share, I'd like to hear it.
You lost all credibility at "aborigines". You know this is 2023, right? Unfortunately most Australians are motivated by rhetoric fed to them by Murdoch.
I am very familiar with the area, having lived around there for a couple of decades. I had a school holiday job at at the Sherwood Forest visitors centre. I am now living in Melbourne as a direct result of a chain of events that started during the miners' strike in 84/85. AMA!
Sometimes it feels like the healthcare system here is one giant Ponzi scheme, with GPs constantly feeding new customers to 'specialists' who charge a fortune, who then sends the report back to the GP, so you have to pay to hear the results, which often leads to another referral to a different specialist, who sends the report back to the GP and the cycle continues.
Oh man, I'm so embarrassed. It was my birthday yesterday and many beers and cocktails were had. In my drunken stupor I mistakenly texted the word 'fuck' to my mother-in-law in the UK. I was mortified when I realised but it was too late, she'd already seen the message. I am cringing just typing this.
A few months ago there was some kind of mantis/stick insect in the garden. She laid an egg pod and disappeared. Well apparently today the egg pod hatched and there's about 30 tiny baby mantis crawling up the wall. I'll try and get a decent photo to post.
Yeah it's ridiculous! Two days ago I was sat outside the pub in shorts and a tee in baking sunshine, now I'm holding a cup of tea with both hands to warm them up.
I was offered a slightly cheaper ongoing consultations option with the psych (but it was still effin expensive), or the 291 option and let my GP take care of the 'script. I went the 291.
I'm not sure what the psychologist charges to be honest, it was all under a mental health plan that's just been extended. The psychiatrist consultation was close to $1000 but I should get around half back. It's pricey but a relief to finally have it confirmed and get some treatment. I'm turning 53 this week and I should have done this years ago when it became clear that things weren't quite right.
So the psychiatrist that my psychologist referred me to last week confirmed what we all suspected, that I have ADHD. What I didn't expect was that it's served with a side of Asperger's (now known as 'high functioning autism' apparently). Did not see that one coming but it actually explains a lot.
I should start on the meds (Vyvanse) later this week. No idea what to expect, but sure, I'll take legal speed if it's on offer!
