I rarely go into the city these days, even less so at night, but tomorrow is the exception as we have tickets for Dara O'Briaine at Hamer Hall :)
Dinner and drinks on Southbank before the show at 8pm. Apparently it goes on for over two hours! Hope there's an interval.
Has anyone used the new container deposit scheme machines yet? There's one down the road from us, and we had a house-warming on Saturday so there's heaps of beer cans and bottles to recycle, probably a whole $3 worth!
The house we moved into a few months back still had the original (low quality) oven, it's about 17 years old and inefficient AF. Ordered a new Bosch unit on Tuesday and it's being installed this afternoon. whoohoo! Next up will be replacing the gas hob with induction but I don't know anything about those so will have a chat with the oven installer. Does anyone here have induction?
I made Nagi's quesadilla recipe, chicken filling option, and it looked and smelled great We were going to have it tonight but neither of us wanted a big Mex feast, so tomorrow it is :P
As a Brit I was excited to finally be able to donate blood. Was booked in for this morning but when I got there they said I couldn't do it because I have too much iron in my blood (Haemochromatosis) and my GP needs to fill out a particular form so that I'm classed as a 'therapeutic donor' and not just a donor. Bit disappointing, but I was seeing the doc tomorrow anyway so I'll ask him to do it.
It was funny to see the donor centre staff all dressed up for halloween including, of course, a vampire!
Not sure when, fairly recently I think, but they lifted the ban on us Brits donating blood. It's the right thing to do, but it will help me as well as I have too much iron in my blood. I just reminded Mrs_Owl that I'm going in on Tuesday...and she reminded me that it's Halloween and now I really want the staff to be dressed up as vampires!
Hey, just got back and sorry to say they didn't have any either. There wasn't even an empty space on the Hoyts display rack where sprinkles would be. They did have the Fancy Hanks brand chicken salt, but I suppose that's not the same thing?
The independent Four Cousins supermarket at Parkdale Plaza (corner of Nepean and White Street in Mordi) has a great range of 'erbs and spices, including Hoyts.
So there's an op shop in Mordi that currently has a display of dolls in the window, including three knitted golliwogs. Are they not considered offensive here? These stopped being OK in the UK decades ago so I was shocked to see them for sale here.
Good bot
