  • Well stated- to your first point, I'd urge folks to take small steps to start replacing those services at least partially with alternatives when they're available. For example, you may not be able to switch grocery stores entirely but many places have farmer's markets or services where you can buy from farms wholesale. No matter your food situation, most people can manage to switch operating systems or search engines. Most of us can stand to reduce social media time. Like in your Amazon example, there's value in aiming to change habits slowly over time instead of all at once.

  • This for sure. Some of the best roleplay can happen in combat, and I honestly love both. DMs can encourage this by awarding inspiration for good RP and crafting combat scenarios that allow players to express their characters. Some examples: Do you KO or kill the baddies? Do you go stealthy or charge in? Are they honorable combatants or do they pursue victory at any cost?

Even if the players often make these decisions without considering characterization, the DM can reconteztualize them as character beats instead of meta-level decisions. Also, the classic of having players describe their own crits or killing blows can use this method as well.

  • I think it makes a huge difference- Shapiro is just one person. And to prove the point, look how much influence he, a young guy, is having on our political landscape. Not that they're the perfect politicians, but look at how much support people like AOC and Tulsi Gabbard drum up. We need people that are energized and that can energize others.

  • Musician. Graduated college expecting to go into STEM but the work made me miserable. A little less financially stable now but I would trade that for my mental well-being 10 times out of 10.
