  • Yes they like to pretend. But that's the point. They are all still there. And in my view if they ever were truly legitimate. Are clearly not at this point

  • CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC Etc are still there I'm sure

  • I said it before and I will keep saying it. Any legitimate outlet would be boycotting the Whitehouse in solidarity with the AP till the AP is allowed back in. If you aren't allowed to push back against their lies and misinformation without fear of reprisals. Then what's the point of attending? You're just giving legitimacy to the propaganda. Walk away and let it devolve into an embarrassing circus of no names and bigots whom no one respects.

  • If they cannot dissent or ask actual valid questions what's the point of even being there? The fact that all of them have not stopped going until the AP is allowed back in tells you all you need to know about how trustworthy any of these Outlets are. Not.

  • I agree. My nitpick was with the headline framing the corruption as new and different. It's much the same old corruption. Just now it's flaunting itself, daring the law and any checks and balances to do their job. And when they inevitably fail, as they generally do. Instead of happening quietly in the background where most won't notice. It absolutely will be on display, encouraging others to be similarly corrupt.

There absolutely is some value in appearances. The mistake was to rely on appearances instead of effective and meaningful punishment.

  • Oh absolutely. I never claimed otherwise. As you and I both stated. The brazenness and openness with which it was done is the only new thing.

  • They always were part of the system. However the system did pretend to care about it Once Upon a Time. Trump is just brazen and in your face with it. And if you take offense somehow it's all your fault somehow.

  • What do you mean? Musk worked hard to get where he is. How easy do you think it is to steal emeralds from your father and pawn them to get seed money to start your own wealth? /s

  • That's communism though not leninism.

  • I got a Wii for Christmas years ago. Never used it much. The last Nintendo console I bought was a game cube. You can easily live without Nintendo. They're definitely decent games. Just not for that price.

  • Not going to lie. I had a bit of a start at first before I read the article wondering if that were the case. Which I think is exactly why the media framed it the way they did. A lot of people will only see the headlines.

  • Agreed. But a lot of this isn't rational and people aren't thinking that far ahead. They just know that things aren't right that they should be better but they cannot articulate why or how. They're just angry and looking for an outlet. Which as you said stands a good chance of coming back down on them hard.

  • Doesn't matter what party a politician identifies. The average person may know jack shit about politics or general stance of most elected politicians. But they know enough to know that some of them. Even if they can't personally identify them correctly are responsible for the dysfunction. And they will lash out at the ones they can to get attention.

Even if your average Republican voter is wrong about nearly everything. And they are. There is one thing they are right about. And we need to acknowledge it. Government has become the problem. Yes their every action has only made it worse. But if you can engage them with non-team sport rhetoric. You can get many of them to acknowledge it and turn from an enemy to an ally.

  • I wouldn't say it can't. Politicians and oligarchs have worked hard to make peaceful change almost impossible. And as the saying goes. When peaceful protest/change becomes impossible. Violent protest/change become inevitable.

I would rather live in a world where the representatives we elect represent us. Instead of ignoring us and representing wealthy donors. After all, what are we going to do? Elect someone else like them?

This will definitely get their attention. There's no ignoring this, whether or not you agree with it.

  • As nutty as trump's supporters are. It's truly terrifying that there are still plenty out there that feel he hasn't gone far enough.

  • GPS is very time oriented as well. That's part of how the calculations are done. Using the difference in times, triangulation Etc to figure out where you are. Which is exactly how this system will work as well.

Yes it's not global. But then it was never claimed to be. Yes it will likely only be a North American deal. But it will provide a usable alternative here to GPS. Other regions could adapt it to their broadcast standards as well. As you pointed out it's just timing information. So any broadcast system could make use of a system similar to this. Functioning similarly to gps.

  • Most people who regularly, openly identity as Libertarian aren't.

  • SLAPP suits aren't about wrong or right. They are about intimidation only. And John is going to kick their ass and make them look like fools in the process
