We can do this on isolated cells, but I really don't think we have a way to distribute such a change across the zillions of cells in a human body.

And even if we could, it's not clear how much effect altering the gene after the fact would have. Maybe once your apocrine glands have obeyed the gene and developed a certain way, it's too late.

That said... Sign me the hell up.

As a large language model, I do not form friendships, relationships, or any personal connections. My purpose is to process and generate language-based responses based on the input I receive. Engaging in physical confrontations or "fighting" is beyond my capabilities. However, if you're considering fighting on behalf of a chatbot, it may indicate a need for reevaluation of priorities.

My company used to allow it, but then it became clear people were doing too many dumb things with their work computers to control them normally. For example, some people would explicitly turn their PCs off without updating the OS every Friday and were nearly a year out of date.

That, plus other security concerns I don't remember surrounding the tightening of our policies for security certifications required to net a very demanding client, made it so that we needed to institute mobile device management (MDM) for everything.

We went with Microsoft's version because there were some crucial things I forgot that only it could do. But it didn't support Linux.

So our few people using Linux had to choose between Windows and Mac OS.

I suspect they have something to gain by fueling a climate of geopolitical tension. Maybe they hope someone will turn to them because they're scared?

I'm not sure what exactly but I've got a feeling we're underestimating their intelligence when we say they're just posturing or being silly.

But then again, several years ago people thought Trump and Musk had a plan and were just posturing as idiots while playing 4D chess. How wrong they were.

I may just be giving the Chinese government too much credit... But I'm leaning towards no.

Not sure how right or wrong that is when taking into account the more moderate sections of it, but in this particular case, as the article says, it's not really about Islam. The holy texts don't really call for any of this.

That's what my current bank uses for the web portal now to think of it. Client number, and 6-number PIN. I guess they're only doing this because they really trust their "unusual activity" protocols, but I've got a feeling they really shouldn't only rely on those.

You remind me of my bank about 17 years ago. Everyone had to have a 10-character password, exactly, and it had to include exactly 2 numbers and 1 symbol. I wasn't very knowledgeable about computers at the time and it already felt dumb.

Be morally better than average. If you justify being bad by saying everyone else is doing it, you're not helping the downward spiral. Because bad people and people with no choice make things worse on average.

Hmm, but then we're outwardly dissing it and we can't confidently put it in serious reporting.
