  • But I can buy anything with fiat curency and with bitcoin I can basically buy nothing. And I never will be able probably, bitcoin is too slow to be used as an actual curency to buy common things like groceries

  • Why waste time like this? Wouldn't it be better if cinemas would use vertical screens where a popular youtuber would describe the plot of the movie in like 30 seconds while talking at 2x speed?

  • The opposite, I always sleep with blanket on even if I don't want to. In summer I fall asleep with blanket on my side and wake up fully covered in blanket. And sweating like a pig

  • TIL people don't know about rosetta stone. My mom loves ancient Egypt so information like this was my "daily bread" when I was little, never realized that this isn't common

  • There're still older Civilizations I haven't played so I'm not worried

  • I initially saw that number on a Facebook post and when I checked the source [1] it also mentioned the 15 billion figure so I went with it. Looking at it closely, the author did some "creative" math to get that number

His total take home amounted to five times the earnings of the highest paid provincial governors over a similar periodβ€”enough to provide grain for the entire city of Rome for one year, or to pay all the ordinary soldiers of the Roman Army at the height of its imperial reach for a fifth of a year. By today’s standards that last figure, assuming the apt comparison is what it takes to pay the wages of the American armed forces for the same period, would cash out to about $15 billion

Good catch, I should read the sources better and don't trust the Facebook (especially the Facebook)

  • medieval soap opera

This sounds accurate when I think about it, maybe I found out why I wasn't interested. The thing is - I don't mind medieval soap operas (to some degree), I really liked The White Queen, The White Princess and The Spanish Princess. But those are based on real characters in actual history, I can forgive them for being boring at times since history is sometimes a bit boring. But for me the selling point and the excitement comes from the fact that this actually happened (well ... sort of). With GoT it felt like I'm watching one of those medieval soap operas but without the excitement of being based on the real thing

    The Game of Thrones

I love fantasy, I love medieval history, I love huge worlds, I love slow pace. But this one ... just didn't click, I don't even know why. I gave up after the 4th episode

  • Maybe it helps that Germans have a more relaxed relationship with nudity.

Yeah I guess that helps :) I'm pretty shy, I don't want anyone besides my wife to see my ding-a-ling

  • People who say 20, I'm not judging you but I just can't imagine that

    • I grew up in small (tiny) appartment with my parrents and sharing room with my siblings
    • Then on college living in a room with 2 other people
    • Then renting an appartment with other people
    • Then owning an appartment with my gf
    • Then having kids

Besides that small window of having an appartment just for me and my gf, I just can't imagine sleeping naked

  • for as long as I can remember

Wow, even when you were kid? Or teenager? I grew up in small appartment so I can't imagine that.

And afterwards were you always living alone?

  • rethinks ability to compete with netflix

Yeah, I canceled my subscription like 2 years ago, loosing my prize of 30% discount in the process (it was a thing since I had HBO GO). I don't know if it's a regional thing but there was just nothing new or interresting there. I remember just constant superheroes and Harry Potter. Went for Netflix and never looked back. So, good luck I guess, hopefully they change
